Commercial Description:
Subtlety. That's what makes our Avalanche amber ale such a treat. We blend pale and caramel malts -- and just a kiss of bittering hops -- to create a refreshing-but-flavorful, any-time beer. Aromas of pale grains, a semi-sweet middle and a clean-as-Colorado-snow finish make this our best-selling beer.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Huntersville, NC. Bottle is notched as the 2nd week of September for brewing date. Pours a dark amber color with virtually no head. Aroma is lightly malted. Taste is plain, malty, and a touch of hops to finsih. Nice, clean to drink, but nothing too exciting about this beer.

Slight aroma of bread and a little skunk. Nice looking pour with an average head. Taste is sour. I’m not sure what it tastes like. Has a crisp feel though. Strange. I only had one. It might have grown on me if I had a couple more.

Light copper color with a greenish hue around the edges. Alright head, no lace. Promising yet mild aromas of cashews, caramel, poached pears, maybe metallic hop spice. They’re not kidding about "subtlety." Weird headtrip flashback to elementary school, when the teacher "pressed" leaves by ironing them between sheets of waxpaper... it smells a lot like that. Taste: NADA. I mean, except for sourness, there’s literally no flavor, not even that of mass-produced white bread. No malt, no hop, no yeast, only "thick" water. Oddly, the mouthfeel is excellent… medium bodied and chewy, punctauted by balanced, prickly carbonation. Wild berry sour afterimpression (it’s not really a taste). Unbelievably strange. I want my money back.

Pours a nice dark amber color with a small white head. Aromas of faint caramel malt and hops. Very light body with a speck of malt and a hint of hop.Not horrible, but nothing special.

Medium amber color, thin off white head. Sweet malt aromas, hints of caramel and hops. Light bodied with a high drinkability. Finishes slighty bitter, but otherwise pretty clean.

Poured a white 1.5 finger head that mostly disappeared. If I had brewed this beer, upon tasting it, I would immediately go back to the drawing board. Tolerable, but in no way is this good. Aroma is just weird and corny. Taste isn’t much better. And no redeeming factor here either.

Not really a good beer. I wished there was more complexity to the beer...more or less, average.

Pours a very nice dark golden brown. Aroma is spicy and hoppy with some malt hints. Flavor is malty and spicy, with a little bit of a hop bite and plenty of malty smoothness. This is a delicious and very drinkable beer, perfect for a cold night.
