A little bit grassy as well. Almost no hops can be detected. Unremarkable. bdjames29 (272), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 5, 2006 Bottle - tried 1 day after Rogue Amber Ale and the results are bad for the Breck. I would describe this beer as a skunky, Amber-colored piss lager. Highly disappointing. If this is Breckenridge’s top selling beer, they need to rethink things becasue this beers sucks. vyvvy (2044), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Aug 19, 2006 Pours clear amber with a tan head that goes away quickly. Aroma has light smooth musty caramel malts - light graininess. Medium / light body with light sharp carbonation. Taste is sour and metallic, quite sharp. There is some caramel malt in the background. Finish has light spicy hops. Metallic qualities go down a bit further into the beer. Not horrible, but not worth having again. Boring. carlb (37), East Lansing, Michigan, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 5, 2006 An honest attempt, sertainly a good gateway beer. As though beer were the center of the universe. Pour is lovely. Caramelly and clear. ORange around the edges. Good head that dies and leaves a nice trickly mess. Nose is nonexistant. Sweetness. Cardboard and corn. Not much else honestly no hops. Flavors are broader versions of this. Lots of Brown sugar sweetness. Still the cardboard and corn. Corn aftertaste is incredibly complex though. Like biting into some of the best weet corn you’ve ever had. No hops?

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 5, 2006 From a 22oz. Aroma of molasses, pine nuts, and some hops. Pours a medium amber with a thick white head. Flavor is crisp and mild with malt. High carbination and medium body. Overall could use more/better flavor. Refreshing though. iowaherkeye (1856), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jul 31, 2006 Bottled notched on the third week of October, hopefully 2005 in the least. Pours a clear copper with a tiny off-white head. Aroma is of caramel and toasted malts, some grain. Tastes the same with a little bit of bitterness in the middle, biscuity finish. Somewhere in there was a little bit of tang. Watery, mod-high carbonation. Meh, kinda crappy overall. xav33 (313), Midland, MI, Michigan, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jul 30, 2006 Breckenridge Avalanche Amber Ale
12 oz bottle
Medium pour in a tulip glass
Conceived 11/05, gulped 07/06
Poured disappointingly yellowish/orange with 1/4 inch white head that limped into a ring.
Smelt of slight hints of roast and sweet maltiness.
Taste begins sweet and bready and dissipates with a hint of sour fruit and moss merging towards the end. Less hops than a elephant. Mouthfeel was light.
Overall, a fairly disappointing amber that could use less sweetness and more malty bite or hops.
