Aroma is all malt.. caramel, and some grains. Flavor is caramel, grain, yeast, brief hops on the finish. Palate is creamy and medium bodied. Drinkable but like most ambers it fails to impress. Aroma of corn, light malt, and soap. Mildly sweet malted, hopped and carbonated. A very very bland amber, but as its description says a easily drinkable every day beer. jtxx (141), san antonio, Texas, USA

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 18, 2005 (12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with whaleman, thanks David!) Unfortunately, Avalanche Amber is not an avalanche of flavor, but rather just a light dusting of flurries. It’s a fairly light bodied amber ale with a semi-sweet, grainy maltiness, a moderate fruitiness, and a floral, lightly bitter hoppiness. The nose is very floral, grainy and grassy, and isn’t appealing. Carbonation is a bit taxing on the palate, and despite the somewhat creamy mouthfeel, this isn’t a very smooth beer to drink, and the aftertaste is pretty awful. Medium golden, slightly hazy and capped by a small avalanche-white head whose wide snow drifts along the edge of the glass show a remarkable resistance to melting. Hopefully the avalanche buried the storage facility where this beer was being stored because this just isn’t very good.
