Nice "full" mouthfeel and an easy malty finish. ryanh (1), USA does not count | 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Mar 8, 2005 Very slight aroma with almost no head at all.Taste is lacking for an amber. Boring. May as well have a BMC. sfontain (507), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 7, 2005 Hmm...Apparently this bottle carries a new label now? Anyway... Served at absolute room temperature: 70+ degrees. Amber with a small, white head. Aroma is generally just sweet and malty with not much more. Flavor has a sharp sweetness along with the malts. Light mouthfeel but not horribly thin. Okay; better than the ratings indicate. mball581 (20), Maineville, Ohio, USA

Light caramel aroma with not much else. Medium creamy body with lively carbonation. Slightly sweet finish. JonMoore (1562), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Feb 21, 2005 Very clear and a bit to light fro and amber with a quickly dissapearing head. Arom is a mix of sweet and sour malts. Fairly mild and calm. Flavor is not what is expected from an amber. It is light and only marginally better than a major commercial beer because of its bland apperance, weak aroma, and flaovr that takes not chances in overpowering the palate of mass market drinkers. I think the label design pulls in some so they don’t want to dissapoint with a strong beer. Mabye a good first step from BMC to good beer. Cornfield (4972), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Feb 16, 2005 Updated: Aug 11, 2005From the commercial description: "Subtlety. That’s what makes our Avalanche amber ale such a treat." Methinks they got a bit too subtle here. It looks real pretty in the glass, but the aroma and flavor are truly bland. The watery finish is forgettable.
