detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA Jan 14, 2007 I ordered and took notes on this beer at MacKenzie’s Bar in Minneapolis, and when I went to enter my review, "Breckenridge Brown" wasn’t listed. Checked the website. Nothing there. So I emailed the brewery and asked about it. They replied that Breckenridge Brown was made especially for the Minnesota market. Perhaps they are test-marketing? Pours a good healthy brown color, fairly clear, with an inch of creamy light tan foam. It looked like a nitro-pour, but wasn’t. Good lacing. Mild caramel malt in the aroma.
The beer starts out very tasty - lots of sweet chocolate, some roasted grain, a bit of caramel, and a nice fruity character. At mid-sip it tones down, and the finish is on the mild side. I really liked the flavors in the beginning, and would have liked them to stick around longer. Medium body, gentle carbonation, clean finish without a pronounced aftertaste.
