This is a nice and mild, easy-drinking beer. Nothing special, but not bad. Malty flavoring.

Apr 20, 2008 12 oz. bottle pours a clear garnet hue with a nice white head. Smell is nutty sweet malts and alcohol. Medium bodied with a velvety smooth mouthfeel. Taste is a very nice nutty malt sweetness with a decent hop alcohol tang to finish.
A nice brew to warm up with on a cold winters night. Dec 2004

Apr 19, 2008 12 oz bottle from acknud! Nose is lagerish graininess with some caramel and some grassy hops; clear dark brown with a small beige head; flavor is some caramel, nuts, and very light hop bitterness; finish is slightly bitter with some light alcohol warmth.

Mar 20, 2008 Pours a clear, rusty, garnet color with an off-white, fairly small, frothy head which diminshes quickly and leaves minimal lace. Nose is faint but not unpleasant; roasted almonds, toasty caramel, and hints at resinous hops and raisin. Flavor is actually not too bad with plenty of roasted almonds, toasty caramel, some faint undistinguishable spices, faint fruitiness, and light notes of hops bringing a moderately mild bitterness. Palate is medium, nearly lively and watery but smooth in texture. Finishes with the caramek notes becoming a bit sweeter, the roasted almonds, and the hop notes becoming a bit offputting. Not one of my favorite winter ales but at least a drinkable one with some decent qualities.
