Commercial Description:
Select wheat joins with American Hops under the careful eye of the master brewer. The result is an entirely drinkable wheat beer, refreshing, rewarding and proper for any occasion. At your whim, add a thin sliver of lemon or not. Follow by quaffing your fill.

When we set about brewing our wheat beer, we strictly limited ourselves to one specific idea: to make an exceptionally drinkable wheat beer. Without the distractions of extravagant brewing techniques and exotic ingredients, the result is a truly honest American Hefeweizen appropriate for any occasion. Proper.

normally a deep drink of beer-- almost any kind-- elicits a sigh of approval, thus: "aaaah!" this one, conversely, prompted a head shaking: "ouch!" indeed, this beer profoundly sucks. i took an ordinary section of garden hose and carefully placed this beer next to one opening. near the other opening, i placed a golf ball. this simple action excited the most startling turbulence with both the beer and the ball, and i involuntarily stood back, dumbfounded. and then, before my eyes, the golf ball was sucked THROUGH the hose and plopped ingloriously into the beer. amazing. try it yourself, but be careful. here’s another warning sign that a beer is going to be exceptionally bad: when the ’commercial description’ says something like: "When we set about brewing our wheat beer, we strictly limited ourselves to one specific idea: to make an exceptionally drinkable wheat beer." what a load of horseshit. they meant that they wanted to make an exceptionally WEENIE wheat beer, and their success in this achievement is momentous. the beer is so like the color of yellow business envelopes that it could hide among them forever without detection--especially as the head is so short lived. the beer (which i now call ’plopper’) is cloudy. the smell too is like those same envelopes--or rather a cardboard recycling facility-- with slightly abused notions of lemon, crayon wax and a wash rag ready for the laundry. all of my senses assure me that they’ve added lemon to this, but whatever it is, it’s naaaasty. part lemon soda, part wallpaper paste, and heavily overboiled cabbage. spritzy carb, watery feel. a pity, a rip-off and a disgrace.

Cloudy light golden color with a small off white head. Aromas of sour dough wheat bread, white grapes, lemons, and tannic grape peels. Quite acidic and gueuze like. Perhaps if they marketed this as a gueuze or berliner weiss, this may have gotten a chance. Tons of acid and iron in the finish. This will need more than a sliver of lemon. Actually bet this would go well with some woodruff or raspberry syrup. But, please don’t call this a hefe anything.

On tap in Denver. Nice, light offerning from Breckenridge. Typical Hefe, nothing out of the ordinary but very satisfying. Re-rate, bottle. Ar: 3 Ap: 4 F: 3 P: 1 O: 4 Pours solid, cloudy gold with a nice head and lacing. Smells of corn and weak clover with faint bits of bubblegum. Tastes of watered corn and saccharin. Watery mouthfeel. If this is proper, give me trash. MUCH better on tap.

Cloudy, amber-orange appearance with a very small head that left no lacing. Not like a German hefe, and even the terminology "wheat/ale" seems out of place. Aroma was muted, maybe some citrus, but not much. Same could be said about the ligh-bodied flavor. Well-carbonated, with a taste that was a bit sour. Cloying finish.

Pale cloudy gold in color with no head. Smells like an American wheat. Some sourness in the taste that I am guessing is supposed to be citrus, but it really just tastes like sour water. Very light, very weak, no hop prescene. Unenjoyable from start to finish

Dark urine colored with very very thin head, and it went away fast. Smelled sweet and sour. Tasted much the same, but more sour. Only a trace of drinkability. No distinguishable similarities to a hefeweizen.. This is not proper.

Appearance: hazy, orange color, with a creamy, fluffly head that dies a swift death, Aroma: spicy, citrusy, heady, if just a bit. The label instructs the drinker to, "Enjoy with lemon." I opt not to. Perhaps that will prove an error, we shall see. we shall see. Taste: light texture, light body, but with a prevailing spicy, lemony taste. Short, but pleasant finish. Tastes a little closer to Bavarian style than many American micro versions, a touch more complex, and not as crisp, with notes of orange also interjecting later on. Not a terrible beer, in my opinion, just not terrific.

Mild sweet, skunky aroma. Big head with no retention. Clear golden color, looks like a pils. Taste is overcarbonated and sour. Really gets gross after it sits on your tongue for awhile. I don’t think a lemon could save this. Use some wheat and a real yeast strain!
