The beer displays a 1 inch head on the pour, and it’s capable of holding this for several minutes. (long enough to be thouroughly enjoyed.) Looking deep through the color, you’ll see lively bubbles. The aroma smells exactly like an INDIA pale ale from 1694. wax, hickory, hop spice, earthen. The flavor starts smooth, quickly comes out with its potent hopping, lingers for a while, and finishes tart. Drink this if you want to relive the day. This is the best incarnation of the original style and I expect nothing less from those who would pay homage to the Tivoli Brewery.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Bottle pours a hazy copper with a thin white head. The head is deminising. Leaves a good lacing though. Aroma is spruce, some bread, and a touch of caramel. Has a decent carbonation. The flavor is soft but mildly hoppy. Very clean. Not as bitter as I like but its there. Has an oily texture. The body is medium. Has an alright finish with a mild aftertaste. This isn’t bad but lacks the hoppiness I love. JPDIPSO (4932), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 21, 2009 Amber to orange in color with a small id of tan bubbles. Caramel aromas with a bit of floral to citric hops. HInts of fruit in the background. Light sweetness balanced by a citric bitterness that grown into the finish and linger. Quite woody in the linger. Has a fresh hop bite that I can appreciate. I don’t think it is as balanced as they propound, but I find it does have a bit of authenticity. Ughsmash (4072), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 20, 2009 Bottled. Poured hazy medium orange with a short cap of whitish head that was clumpy when resuscitated. The aroma picked up sweet caramel and dry, crusty bread topped by Pinesol, spicy pine, and peppery hoppage.. almost juicy. not bad. The flavor found sweet caramel at the core with pine and peppery bitterness around.. soapy, especially as it warmed up.. finished with a moderate, non-directional bitterness. Medium-bodied with a sharp, bitter overall impression.. some decent stuff in here, but it didn’t come together. WabashMan (817), Noblesville, Indiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 18, 2009 While a bit one-dimensional, this is a perfectly decent IPA with a nice medium copper color and good hops character. It won’t blow you away, but there’s nothing bad about it either. Lacking a Two Hearted Ale or something of that nature, this will do just fine. llcooldave (337), San Antonio, Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 17, 2009 Hoppy pine aroma with some metallic notes mixed in. Clear orange honey copper in color with a good bitter citrus flavor. There are some sweet malt undertones present in the aftertaste. Overall I think this is a pretty good representation of the style, smooth and easy drinking with an assertive hops presence. Ernest (4501), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Dec 15, 2009 Bottle.
Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing.
Body is medium amber.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately to heavily hoppy (resin, grapefruit), with notes of gasoline and other petroleum products.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, unclean.
Medium body, velvety/watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately astringent.
Disturbing. As it warms, the petroleum aspects become more apparent. While they don’t overwhelm (the hops are quite assertive and usually mask the fusels), the constant reminder of used motor oil and gas is highly unpleasant and evident of components I would rather not ingest. That aside, the hop character is the usual American raw/green variety; concentrated and medicinal. Not much malt or ester interest. So even without the fusel taint, probably high 2’s at best. hombrepalo (779), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 14, 2009 12 oz bottle. A golden brown beer with a tiny head. The aroma has some grass & taste like a British IPA. The taste has some citrusy hops, & some bitter. A somewhat oily mouthfeel. A pretty good beer but an average IPA.
