May 27, 2008 The color was dark black. The head was creamy, thin, and light beige. The aroma was sweet, chocolate, and oats. The flavor was coffee, roast, hoppy, and chocolate. The palate was smooth. The finish was waxy.

May 25, 2008 12oz bottle, no date, received as a bonus from emacgee--thanks Ethan! Pours a deep reddish brown--opaque in the glass--with a 1/2 finger brown head that stuck around a short while before fading to a thick ring and film. Roasted grain, milk chocolate, brown sugar, and a hint of charred malts round out the aroma. Flavor is very charred--burnt malts, ash, with roasted malts. Only a touch of brown sugar and milk chocolate sweetness peaks in. Bitterness peaks around a 2-3. Light to moderate carbonation with a smooth body. I’ve had this a few times before, but never rated it. I thought I liked it at least a little more than this rating, but I guess not.

May 23, 2008 Black in color......opaque. Very thick, creamy head. Slight aroma of roasted malt, with a hint of chocolate. A bit of a sweet taste in the front......unusually crisp mouthfeel for the style. Heavy roasted malt flavor in the back with a dry finish.

May 20, 2008 Subtle Aroma, almost too subtle. Dark black color with a little bit of light able to shine through. Great subtle flavor. Very pleasing to the palate with smooth beginning and finish. Overall a great beer that tasted great all the way through.

May 19, 2008 Updated: Jul 4, 2008Nearly opaque black..thin head. Aroma..choc, espresso, roasted malt. Nice flavors.. don’t feel the silkiness I expect with oatmeal. Maybe a slightly higher abv would give the chewiness I was looking for.

May 18, 2008 Bottle @ home. Pours in dark black almost opaque. The aroma is malty earthy some toasted oats. The flavor is really smooth and malty with some cereals and some coffee an d dark chocolate malt flavors. The mouth feel is smooth and medium with a mild finish. A nice oatmeal stout. Go Breck!

May 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours a solid black with minimal tan head. Nose is mild – burnt malts and a bit of oats. Palate is light cocoa, burnt malt and mild coffee with a smoky finish. Really light, water mouth feel for the style. Disappointing brew.
