Dec 9, 2007 Pours black with a medium brown dense head. Little straw aroma. Full mouthfeel with bittersweet cocoa and finishes with a touch of sour.

Dec 9, 2007 I thought this to be a pretty mediocre oatmeal/sweet stout compared to others I’ve had recently. It had a fair amount of sweet roasty character with some decent vanilla notes, but it also had a vegetable-like (mercaptan?) smell.
It poured an opaque black with a fairly light body (as in not viscous). Aroma had a good amount of roastiness and vanilla in it. Flavor was vanilla, roasty, and had more hops than I would’ve expected (all pluses). However, there was also a compost/vegetable element in the flavor that I didn’t care for. As it warmed, I also got some smokey/rauchbier type flavors which were not unpleasant. Mouthfeel was not thick, but was not inappropriate.
There are just so many better oatmeal stouts out there. Still, I kind of enjoyed it, and I’d weakly recommend.

Dec 8, 2007 This one’s a bit too bitter for my taste, bought it just to try. For those who like bitter stouts its not bad beer at all, its rich in flavour, hints of coffee and chocolate but I hopefully wont be having it again.

Dec 7, 2007 Bottle. Pours a very dark black / brown. Nice looking, thick beige head. Aroma is slight roast coffee, maybe a touch of chocolate. Flavor is burnt coffee, touch of chocolate. Bitter to a point that I didn’t want to finish the bottle, ended up dumping the last 40% of the bottle.

Nov 28, 2007 12 oz. Black with a medium head that lasts. Chocolate oatmeal cookie aroma. Flavor of cocoa, slight charred wood, and metallic herbs. Palate is light-medium and watery with a dryish finish.

Nov 23, 2007 Pours a dark brown color with a thick tan head. Aromas of roasted malts,coffee and a hint of vanilla and chocolate. Taste matches the aroma. Nice bitter ending. Body is a little thin though. Average.

Nov 21, 2007 Dark brown pour with little to no head. Roasty malts, chocolate, oatmeal. Very typical of the style. No discernable flaws. An average middle of the road stout. OK.
