Some strange acidic aroma, although flavor is quite good, very bitter at first with a warming smooth finish. richlikebeer (832), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 17, 2007 lots of hops in the nose of this...almost to the point of smelling bad (acetyl bad, that is)..the combination of the coffe and the hops just didnt smell good at all. the color was very nice, a solid deep brown, but the head was pretty much non existant...i even poured the second half of the bottle forcefully on purpose to try and get it to foam up, and couldnt get any. flavor was not exactly what i would have wanted in a sweet stout, there was much more coffee and not nearly enough sweetness than i would expect from this style. body and thickness are nice and the flavor and texture are actually very enjoyable, so if i were rating by style rules i would knock points off, but since i do like coffee stouts, on simple enjoyment of the beer, i will give this a decent score. roccotool (25), USA
| 1.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 3/20 | Mar 15, 2007 Bottle. Aroma-chocolatey. Appearance-black as night, big head at first that disappears quickly. And I’m talking after the second sip. Flavor-It’s better to say what it doesn’t have: no creamy body, no sweetness, no flaked oatmeal to be discerned. This was watery and heavy chocolate and not up to sweet stout standards. More like a cheap porter with the over-hopped American style. WSSmiles (124), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 14, 2007 This beer started out with an aroma and taste very strong coffee like with the alcohol coming thru. Other thing that was rememberable was the lace. However didn’t finish strong. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 8, 2007 Bottle. Surprised the brewer says it has a creamy body--I though it was pretty dry. Pours black. Rocky, tan head. Medium body. Above average--just not an all-star.
