Medium sized light brown head that quickly diminishes. Good lacing on glass. The aroma is amazing, with a distinct chocolate and coffee emsemble. The beginning taste is smooth following into a slight but quickly disappearing medium, with a pleasant nutty and malty aftertaste. This was not only my first oatmeal stout, it was my first stout in general, so in turn I have the right to say this is an excellent beginner’s stout. balke13 (156), MIssoula, Montana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 19, 2005 Growler from Breckenridge location. Pours an opaque black with medium viscosity and a dark brown head. Quite a strong coffee and chocolate aroma that is dominant in the flavor as well...a bit of roasted hazelnut flavors as well with a medium sized body. Better than I expected even after a few days in the growler. shanereid (75), Portsmouth, Virginia, USA

Took me by surprise when drinking this sweet stout. It didn’t taste oatmeal to me - more coffee flavoured. Nice head however - apearance was an A. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 8, 2005 Pleasant, roasty, chocolate aroma is thick and appealing. Opaque black body is topped by a decent tan head that recedes to partial cover and ring. Liquorice notes pervade the roasty, chocolate flavour with fair dark malt bitterness. Medium dry body with pointy carbonation. Sampled on tap at the brewpub. rdawson321 (145), USA

A decidedly different character than most oatmeal stouts I’ve had. A great change. Zinister (1207), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 4, 2005 Great dark pour with nose of oatmeal (duh), malt and a wee-bit chocolate. Much thinner that what I was expecting, and the taste was less than expected too...hoping it was just a bit thicker. Good oatmeal taste, but the smokey malt was a bit odd. Not the best Oat Stout I’ve had. zombywoof (362), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 2, 2005 Chocolate smokey aroma that’s a little too light. It has a nice roasted coffee flavor that’s not bitter. A nice oakey finish. Not as much body as I would like in an oatmeal stout, but avoids the bitterness you might encounter in some stouts.
