richlikebeer (747), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 17, 2007 lots of hops in the nose of this...almost to the point of smelling bad (acetyl bad, that is)..the combination of the coffe and the hops just didnt smell good at all. the color was very nice, a solid deep brown, but the head was pretty much non existant...i even poured the second half of the bottle forcefully on purpose to try and get it to foam up, and couldnt get any. flavor was not exactly what i would have wanted in a sweet stout, there was much more coffee and not nearly enough sweetness than i would expect from this style. body and thickness are nice and the flavor and texture are actually very enjoyable, so if i were rating by style rules i would knock points off, but since i do like coffee stouts, on simple enjoyment of the beer, i will give this a decent score.
mattwix (4), Arizona, USA does not count Oct 5, 2008 The main drawback was aftertaste. It’s like I am drinking a fantastic dark stout and then after enjoying a semi-dry finish, it’s like I popped a piece of metal in my mouth. Ok, it’s not that bad, but the aftertaste needs some refinement. Otherwise, it’s fabulous. CanIHave4Beers (202), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Oct 1, 2008 Man, I think I might have gotten a bad bottle....
Generally speaking I tend to trust Breckenridge beers, but this had some really funky vegetable aromas and flavors. These of course did not mix well with the other flavors of Oatmeal, chocolate, and nuts. The beer looks fantastic in the glass with a big tan head and tons of lace. But something just was not quite right here.
Collint (347), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Sep 27, 2008 Bottle, pours a black beer with thin no head. Aroma is roasty and the flavor is roast, choco, coffee and oatmeal. A little bitter, not bad. kinda weak bretupdegraff (94), Fishers, Indiana, USA Sep 22, 2008 dark pour - limited aroma - flavor was a bit bland for me.
