Flavor is very sweet with malts, a small hop profile, and an ending profile that is dominated by a sweet lemon taste. There is a large yeast flavor and it is medium bodied MaltDawg (778), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jun 5, 2009 (Sample Date: 3/13/2009 Source:Other) Malty toasty bready aroma with some earthy hop character. Clear orange amber brown with a rocky off white head. Malt accentuated bready yeasty with spicy hop flavors. Finish is medium with a touch of residual bitterness. Harsebrau (164), Kansas City, Missouri, USA May 29, 2009 Poured into a dimpled mug and enjoyed while playing catch with E. A malty, caramel, ’thick’ aroma is released from the tanish head that bubbles up upon pouring. Creek bed brown with an appearance of something you might be able to chew. Stong presence of malt and yeast and an overall bready flavor. Thick at first and then loosens up and leaves you with a hop nod. A solid pour into my 25cl tulip glass produces a three-finger thick, lightly amber tinged, tan colored head. The beer is a ruddy amber hue that shows a brilliantly clear, light amber tinged, full copper color when held up to the light. The aroma has a nice, clean, sweet malt character to it that makes me think of grapes (though not in a fruity way), whole grain crackers, toasted whole grain bread that has been lightly sprinkled with brown sugar. There is not a whole lot going on here, and that grape note even picks up a touch of tartness as the beer warms.
Lightly sweet malt, a touch of tartness even, some herbal notes and a toasted grain astringency are noticeable as the beer first rolls across my tongue. The beer finishes with a touch of hop bitterness as well as a lingering, almost metallic, malt note that has some toasted grain, some caramelized notes and even a bit of something that reminds me of sweet tea. The body has a medium fullness to it, though it could be a touch more viscous for the style. That grape like note comes into the flavor as well and reminds me of tart / sweet green table grapes somehow.
A bit of a disappointment, it could perhaps use a bit more lagering time as it seems like it still might be a bit green. This seems like it has a good start to the malt complexity that it would need to be great, but it is just not integrated enough to really work here. hellbilly (1502), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA May 10, 2009 crystal clear dark copper color with a very short lived white head.
the nose is quite fruity... raisins mostly along with caramel maltiness, bubble gum and a touch of butter. (though not flawed)
there is not much to define in the flavor... fruity, malty sweet, a hint of yeast (especially in the aftertaste) and a slightly spicy finish.
light bodied, prickly and easy to drink. it’s safe. i’m indifferent... 5/3/5/3/12/2.8 highibus (421), Mill Creek, Washington, USA May 8, 2009 Pours a deep almost ruby copper color. No real head to speak of. Light aroma of sweet malt and cherry. Flavor is sweet but not cloying and a light hoppiness comes through. Smooth finish. Not bad, very drinkable.
