Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Mar 13, 2009 Bottle. Pours a brown ruby body with an off white head. Some sweet malty cherry aroma light earthiness, cardboard...oh man two strikes in a row... Fizzy black cherry knock off brand soda pop. Malty, notes of sour milk, hint of roastiness. This beer is a dam mess.
Pandora should have stayed in the box. michael-pollack (2598), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 12, 2009 12oz. Bottle: Aroma of malts, body odor, must, vegetables, slight caramel, and slight brown sugar. Poured copper/amber in color with a small to medium-sized tan head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of malts, brown sugar, caramel, slight vegetables, light cardboard, and a hint of cocoa. Medium body. Thinish, dry texture. Average carbonation. Sweet, slightly salty, brown sugar and malt finish. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Mar 12, 2009 12 oz bottle purchased from Greenwood Spirits Shoppe in Bowling Green. Poured a clear, deep amber color with a one finger tan head that disappeared and left chunks floating on top of the beer. The aroma was grainy, with a hint of earth and roasted malt. The flavor was solid. Toasted caramel malt base, with an earthy finish. This was a drinkable brew. Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Mar 9, 2009 Updated: Jun 23, 2009On tap at the Breckenridge tasting room in Denver. Pours a reddish orange, see through body with a thin, white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a small amount of lace. Aroma...is it there? A small amount of toasty caramel malts and a bit of grassy hops...but that’s really all I’m picking up. Flavor is a little better, but that really isn’t saying much. Slightly toasted caramels giving it a lightly charred taste, but leaving it very bland and sweet. I guess I’m picking up a hint of grassy hops in the finish, but really not a lot. Palate is medium bodied, malty, and smooth. Overall, the only reason I tried this was because I was at the tasting room and it was seasonal. Pretty boring and bland. Eh. (4,3,5,3,09)Re-rate: On tap at the Flying Saucer in KC. Pours a clear reddish amber with a thick, dark tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves some light lacing. I’m still asking where the aroma is! Flavor is a little better than I remember. Malty with some toasted caramels, citrus cherry, and an even hop bitterness. Finishes dry with a lingering taste of fruity malts and toasted caramels with a touch of bitterness. Medium bodied and smooth. Overall, better tasting than I remember at the tap room, but still fairly boring. I’ll give it a few more points. Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Mar 5, 2009 Bottled. Poured slightly hazy cherried-amber with a short cap of off-white head (more prolific around the edges). The aroma picked up toasted caramel and darker fruits with a dry, woodsy impression.. came across as decent but nothing special. The flavor picked up sweeter caramel and fruits with lesser brown sugar at the core.. earthy bitterness and a touch of prickly alcohol surrounded.. finished strong and bitter. Medium-bodied and slick on the palate with some tackiness on the back.. quite dry. This was decent, but I wouldn’t care for another. Tmoney99 (4652), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Mar 1, 2009 Bottle from S&V, Fort Wayne.
Poured hazy deep brown with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate complex toasted sweet malty aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate balanced malty sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.
Good drinkable brew. tomciccateri (496), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Feb 25, 2009 Seasonal on tap at the brewery in Denver. Pours a deep, dark amber color with a slight head and fine bubbles. Slight hop bitterness along with a viscus (alcohol) lace. Malty sweetness struggles against hops presence.
