| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 16, 2009 Happy that I didn’t buy a six pack of this beer. Little to no head with this one. Translucent and fairly dark brown. Fairly malty aroma. A strange toffee aroma as well. Dare I say I am smelling something sweet coming from this beer. Not a muted beer in terms of aroma, but fairly pungent. Weird taste. Almost a short lived malty sort of sweet flavor. This one is hard to describe. I haen’t tried a beer like this ever before, in terms of taste. I am having such a hard time nailing down what I am actually tasting. Not a bad palate; the beer is smooth on the tongue. Overall, malty beer with a lot of malt flavor and aroma, but nothing that I would want to try again. Birdiebeagle (813), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 15, 2009 Bottle Pours a reddish brown with a diminishing tan head. The head laces fairly well. Has a good aroma of seet fruits and light hops. Has a light carbination. Has a watery texture. Not the greatest mouthfeel. Flavor is very mellow. Light bodied. Blend is okay, doesn’t seem as heavy ABV as it is. The finish is lacking. It is not a very complex beer. Pawola22 (781), Kansas City, Missouri, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 9, 2009 Updated: Jun 23, 2009On tap at the Breckenridge tasting room in Denver. Pours a reddish orange, see through body with a thin, white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a small amount of lace. Aroma...is it there? A small amount of toasty caramel malts and a bit of grassy hops...but that’s really all I’m picking up. Flavor is a little better, but that really isn’t saying much. Slightly toasted caramels giving it a lightly charred taste, but leaving it very bland and sweet. I guess I’m picking up a hint of grassy hops in the finish, but really not a lot. Palate is medium bodied, malty, and smooth. Overall, the only reason I tried this was because I was at the tasting room and it was seasonal. Pretty boring and bland. Eh. (4,3,5,3,09)Re-rate: On tap at the Flying Saucer in KC. Pours a clear reddish amber with a thick, dark tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves some light lacing. I’m still asking where the aroma is! Flavor is a little better than I remember. Malty with some toasted caramels, citrus cherry, and an even hop bitterness. Finishes dry with a lingering taste of fruity malts and toasted caramels with a touch of bitterness. Medium bodied and smooth. Overall, better tasting than I remember at the tap room, but still fairly boring. I’ll give it a few more points. (4,3,6,3,11) MaltDawg (778), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Finish is medium with a touch of residual bitterness. nbutler11 (769), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 5, 2009 Bottle from Papago. One of the finer beer names I can think of. Pours a rich amber color with a trim beige head. Smells of vanilla yogurt and faint hops. Tastes of each with additional notes of tart raspberries and caramel. Interesting flavor that I would definitely revisit. Seems underrated. jde123 (715), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 5, 2004 Very nice dark amber color, but absolutely no head when poured. Very thin taste for a bock. Not great. Kind of reminds me of a story of the rabbit and the mole, all the mole wants to do is go to his job at the rendering plant and drink at the bar. The rabbit on the other hand has ambitions of his own, seemingly adept at manuvering the obstacle course, that is. arrogantb (714), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 8, 2009 12oz bottle split two ways. Dark reddish brown, slight head, smells beery. the first taste was actually akin to vomit but it quickly subsided into a more malty, lagerish flavor. Not sure what was going on there. Easy to drink but kind of thin, I’d prefer something German any day of the week.
