In the bottle. Very dark. Not so much red, as it was a mahogany or dark reddish brown. Not much of an aroma. Caramel flavor. Mild flavor without a pronounced bitterness. Crisp palate. An excellent beer for a person who wants to practice drinking a darker beer without all that scary flavor.

A dark amber beer with light caramel character. Slightly more bitter than the Avalanche, but otherwise hard to distinguish.

(bottle) Aroma malty and slightly musty. Nice red amber color with almost no head. Slightly sweet, earthy malt flavor wiht essentially no hops. Metallic / astringent finish becomes more noticable as beer warms.
