killedge (25), Miami, Florida, USA Aug 21, 2008 This started out with a nice aroma of vanilla and chocolate. Pours jet black with a very thin head. Starts out with barely any taste and slowly near the end a dark chocolate roasted taste starts to come through. Smooth mouth feel. The vanilla really isn’t overwhelming at all. Dandman629 (5), Ashburn, Virginia, USA does not count Aug 21, 2008 Dont judge a beer by its first sip! I saw this Vanilla Porter brewed by Breckenridge on the shelf and thought "damn that sounds good". Then I took the first sip and thought "this sucks". Good thing for my dedication to beer drinking, because after the third or fourth sip of this beer, the flavor completly opens up. Strangely the beer and no obvious aroma. The palate is so velvety smooth as it feels like a chocolate vanilla shake running down your throat. The taste the perfect blend not too overwhelming on the vanilla. unclemattie (1557), Georgia, USA Aug 19, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown. Creamy milk shake looking head. Aroma is of rich vanilla beans, chocolate malts like an overly chocolate flavored malt shake. Flavor is a water base version of a chocolate malted milk shake. Big vanilla flavors, nice chocolate malts. Maybe even some flavors of marshmallows. a nice Winter season session. Ryan82SM (13), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Aug 18, 2008 Vanilla, rich vanilla aroma, mouth watering... Nice dark color, not completely opaque in the light. The flavor has some chocolate presence, but the vanilla rules all the way. Full and creamy on the palate. One of the better average ABV American Porters you are likely to come across. BlackDonald (1040), North Carolina, USA Aug 17, 2008 This is a remarkable little porter. Pours a traslucent dark brown coloring, with an ever faithful off white head. Nose of light vanilla extract, with a toasty graham cracker maltiness, light hints of chocolate and marshmallow. Smooth, creamy and very drinkable. I pick this up a lot to have around the house.
