Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

12oz bottle at home on January 2, 2009. When I first poured this I thought there was no head. Funny, I thought I remembered head. Well, the head seemed to miraculously form after I poured. Must say something about itself. Not impressive at first, but it really grows on you. Its color is a thick, deep dark brown with a brown glow. Thin, bubbly lacing and an aroma that reminds me of something baking in the kitchen. Flavor also reminds me of baked goods. Vanilla not overpowering, but the addition of the standard roasted, nutty, and cocoa flavors make this a neat, and different beer. A little sweet at times, but definitely not overdone. Well-balanced. Thin, but with a bold finish.

Pours dark cola brown with a weak, fizzy. cream head. Aromas of smoked meat with a surprisingly faint vanilla nose; no noticeable hop bouquet. Big toast and malty flavors with hints of vanilla and chocolate gives the impression of an old-fashioned chocolate malt; hops are present at an almost subliminal level. Full body with a long, smoky finish. A good beer, but not an easy drinking one. Would be better served in smaller quantities alongside a plate of smoked brisket.

Draft. Pours a dark brown with a decent tan head. Vanilla nose with some nut. Flavors a good vanilla with some roasted malt too. Something off a little on the palate. Overall nice porter.

Sampled at WBF in Durham back in October, was on tap, poured dark with an aroma of the obvious vanilla, coffee, chocolates in roasted malts. Flavour much of the same, vanilla comes across smoothly, roasted nuts come in at the end to balance out this lovely porter. Very nice beer.

Vanilla and chocolate in the nose of this brown pour. The dark brown is topped with some mocha colored foam. Light roasted flavor with just a touch of vanilla.

Bottle. Poured black with q frothy off-white head. Aroma of chocolate and a light vanilla undertone. The flavor finds vanilla, chocolate and a slight roast. Full body, soft carbonation, and sweet throughout.
