Dandman629 (28), Ashburn, Virginia, USA Aug 21, 2008 Dont judge a beer by its first sip! I saw this Vanilla Porter brewed by Breckenridge on the shelf and thought "damn that sounds good". Then I took the first sip and thought "this sucks". Good thing for my dedication to beer drinking, because after the third or fourth sip of this beer, the flavor completly opens up. Strangely the beer and no obvious aroma. The palate is so velvety smooth as it feels like a chocolate vanilla shake running down your throat. The taste the perfect blend not too overwhelming on the vanilla. unclemattie (2370), Georgia, USA Aug 19, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown. Creamy milk shake looking head. Aroma is of rich vanilla beans, chocolate malts like an overly chocolate flavored malt shake. Flavor is a water base version of a chocolate malted milk shake. Big vanilla flavors, nice chocolate malts. Maybe even some flavors of marshmallows. a nice Winter season session. Ryan82SM (231), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Aug 18, 2008 Vanilla, rich vanilla aroma, mouth watering... Nice dark color, not completely opaque in the light. The flavor has some chocolate presence, but the vanilla rules all the way. Full and creamy on the palate. One of the better average ABV American Porters you are likely to come across. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA Aug 17, 2008 This is a remarkable little porter. Pours a traslucent dark brown coloring, with an ever faithful off white head. Nose of light vanilla extract, with a toasty graham cracker maltiness, light hints of chocolate and marshmallow. Smooth, creamy and very drinkable. I pick this up a lot to have around the house. SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Aug 14, 2008 Tall off white head over a clear, dark brown body.
Roast malt with a hint of vanilla.
Lightly sweet with no hop bitterness. Vanilla is weak.
A bit thin.
Not bad, but it could have been much more. ewestern (198), Ohio, USA Aug 13, 2008 Pour had almost no head and seemed thin. Color was a dark brown with aroma of vanilla and hints of coffee, but weak. Tasted of vanilla malts with hints of caramel and has a slight bitter coffee after taste. Overall the flavor has a thin feel to it. Feels thicker on the tongue than the pour and flavor would have you think. Bigmmartin (366), Dayton, Ohio, USA Aug 12, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown with dark red edges and a thick foamy tan head. Aroma is pretty weak. Was expecting much more roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malt and some vanilla. Also a decent roastedness, just not as much as I would like. Overall, very drinkable and easy going. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Aug 4, 2008 Variety 6 from Woodman’s. One hell of an interesting beer. Smooth as hell. The vanilla just rolls over your tongue with a nice roasty porter taste in there too, but nothing on the palate left me desiring more from this one.
