stchloe (473), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 31, 2008 I really like this beer if only because its was a unique drink with vanilla. The spice is a good compliment, it is hard to describe except as a beer vanilla malt. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Jul 30, 2008 12 oz bottle. I really enjoyed this beer. Lots of dark roasty malts. Nose of chocolate and lots of vanilla. Flavor was similar. Very smooth mouthfeel with more vanilla and some caramel on the final swallow. Good. Fruitfly (59), , Pennsylvania, USA Jul 28, 2008 Bottled. Aroma is sweet vanilla with malty overtones. Poured with a light tan, thin head. Flavor is also roasted malty with light coffee, chocolate, and excessive vanilla. PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jul 28, 2008 Lakewood, Oh. - Rozi’s Fine Wines - 12 oz bottle. Dark cola pour, slightly funky aroma which settles down after a while - slightly phenolic at first. Flavor has some nice vanilla notes, a hint of root beer and cola, some marshmallows. Mouthfeel is a bit acidy. Decent novelty. guyinchicago (516), marengo, Illinois, USA Jul 25, 2008 poured brown with a little black around the edges, with tan head, medium body aromas of coffee, choclate and roasted malts taste of the same found it very hard to pick up vaniila beans at all.smooth, sweet and very tasty thejoeshow (232), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Jul 21, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep brown/mahogany color with a mocha tan head that dissipates rather quickly. However it does produce some rather nice lacing on the glass. It also appears to be a tad to watery and thin just from looking. Aroma is slightly roasty with a small note of coffee backed with sweet malt. Flavor is exactly what you would think from the name. It’s a nice creamy, smooth porter with a just right kiss of vanilla. There are notes of chocolate and a subtle, almost coffee finish. Very delicious!! Mouthfeel is full and smooth. This thing just slides down your throat and leave that wonderful taste lingering in your mouth. GarrettB (494), Seattle, Washington, USA Jul 20, 2008 I’m not convinced that vanilla and beer make a good pair, and that is only because empirical experience says that the vanilla gets drowned out. Well, the Breckenridge Vanilla Porter rocked that assumption. Gourmet milk chocolate, vanilla bean ice cream and a little cranberry make a sweet and eccentric flavor. It’s not dessert, but still distinguished for its association with the sugary peak of the food pyramid. Simple, yet effective. The aroma is sweet and inviting too - blueberries, black currant and pine resin make an entirely different but persistently sweet drink all around. I don’t usually have nice things to say about about Breckenridge Brewery’s beer, but this one is definitely a cut above the rest. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Jul 19, 2008 Courtesy of Fonefan. Dark brown with a red hue and a nice head. The vanilla aroma is very clean and nice, and I also find notes of roasted malt and a little coffee. The flavour has a vanilla-sweetness, notes of roasted malt, light coffee and a roasted bitterness in the finish. It’s a nice vanilla porter, not cloying as many other vanilla porters/stouts, and it has a lot of flavour in spite of the only 4,7%.
