oreogobbler (217), Austin, Texas, USA Jan 26, 2008 Has the aroma of slightly sour vanilla root beer. Smells very sweet. Dark redish brown and creamy head. Lightly carbonated. Strong vanilla upfront fallowed by light citrus and a milk chocolate finish. Good flavor, but too sweet. Velvet smooth palate. Intensely creamy. I could only drink about half of this before I had to toss it. Way too sweet. Not easily drinkable. DWestrick (235), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Jan 25, 2008 great color and aroma. wasnt blown away by the taste...vanilla isnt my thing with beers. is definitely different and i will try it again. restless7 (104), Lenexa, Kansas, USA Jan 24, 2008 BOTTLE: 45 degrees.. dark pour with small beige head. Definite vanilla aroma with chocolate and a hint of smoke. Interesting flavor with medium body, vanilla bean resting on the back of the tongue. Medium finish. wilkie (1189), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Jan 21, 2008 Bottle at Sadlack’s in Raleigh, NC. Pours dark, black, red around edges with a medium tan head. Aroma is VANILLA with some chocolate, and other roasted smells. Too much vanilla in flavor. Ruins everything in my opinion. Can taste roastiness, chocolate as well. wickedpete (625), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA Jan 20, 2008 Black with a creamy tan head. Aroma of cola slightly, chocolate, and vanilla. Flavor is quite the same, plenty of chocolate flavor along with a well balanced vanilla character that isn’t overpowering. Slight roast flavor in the end. This is a great change of pace and oh so satisfying. Hazmatt (363), Virginia, USA Jan 17, 2008 Bottle. Dark porter color, small head. Aroma is malty, vanilla, touch of anise. Flavor is nice, roasted malt, sweet with vanilla and no hop flavor at all, hint of coffee and toffee, slight bite in middle. Sweet finish. Good specialty or dessert beer. carboloader (318), Houston, Texas, USA Jan 16, 2008 Pours opaque with caramel colored head. Some vanilla flavor, roast, and sweetness comes through -- smooth and easy to drink but also somewhat plain and astringent. Reminds me of Youngs double chocolate stout for whatever reason. A decent shelf buy, but not a top shelf brew. jrob21 (1252), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jan 8, 2008 Get a little roasted and chocolate malt. Get a lot of vanilla. Looks like it should have a much bigger body but comes through a little thin and quick. Getting a bit of an offputting burned flavor. I guess I would call it astringent. Not a very enjoyable experience here.
