JustinBennett (67), junction city, Kansas, USA Dec 1, 2007 bottle. poured a dark hazely brown. had a smell of vanilla. tasted like vanilla Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Nov 30, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep ruby brown with a thin head. Aroma is vanilla creme, with egg nog, light chocolate. Very sweet flavor- some butterscotch- may be some diacetyl? Tons of vanilla flavor with cream, toffee and loads of sweetness. Slick and creamy mouthfeel. Too sweet and wierd for me. highibus (421), Mill Creek, Washington, USA Nov 30, 2007 Pours a deep deep mahogany. Caramel and vanilla nose. Intense vanilla flavor, and that is a good thing. It seems just right. Very smooth and palatable. My favorite vanilla porter. checkmatei1 (629), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 30, 2007 Draft: This poured a dark brown with a small amount of thick head. It had the aroma of roasted chocolate covered peanuts. The taste was a thick vanilla coffee. This had a nice vanilla finish to. Not bad. badinplaid (103), USA Nov 28, 2007 Wonderful coffee and chocolate undertones. Pours deep dark brown, workable head. Vanilla finish is interesting. Worrh a try. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 26, 2007 Rated 8/26/07. 12 oz. bottle courtesy of ’Naka. Pours dark black/brown with no head. Nose of coffe, vanilla, malt, and a hint of alcohol. Good porter taste. Not strong in the coffee department. Nice hops, and then a vanilla finish. Not bad. maltdog (509), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Nov 20, 2007 Bottle. Dark brown; no more than a halo of foam despite aggressive pour. Interesting aroma of smoked almonds. Shockingly non-roasty/porterlike flavor… toasted pecans, hickory smoke, sweet cherry… vanilla character emerges at the end, like freshly sawn green oak. Coppery finish with restrained bitterness. Chewy, buttery texture…”fatty” describes it best. Hazelnut/coffeeish aftertaste and an unusual, back-of-throat wasabi burn. Pretty lame as a porter, but fascinating as an uncategorized specialty beer. Total score would have been at least a full point higher had this been classified as a Scottish ale.
