| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 20, 2007 Bottle. Dark brown; no more than a halo of foam despite aggressive pour. Interesting aroma of smoked almonds. Shockingly non-roasty/porterlike flavor… toasted pecans, hickory smoke, sweet cherry… vanilla character emerges at the end, like freshly sawn green oak. Coppery finish with restrained bitterness. Chewy, buttery texture…”fatty” describes it best. Hazelnut/coffeeish aftertaste and an unusual, back-of-throat wasabi burn. Pretty lame as a porter, but fascinating as an uncategorized specialty beer. Total score would have been at least a full point higher had this been classified as a Scottish ale. norsedoc (162), USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 19, 2007 Dark brown beer with average tan head. Subtle vanilla aroma and flavor. Fairly dry. Has more of a bitter coffee flavor than the vanilla I was expecting. sirpsycho (343), Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 17, 2007 Bottle. Pours a cola like brown with a touch of red. Small tan head that disappeared rather quickly. Aroma is slight vanilla, maybe some malts. Taste was vanilla and malt, balanced, but I wouldn’t want another one. Not bad. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 16, 2007 Bottle. Poured deep brown in color with only a hint of red. Smaller off white head. Roasted nut aroma. Taste is INTENSE and authentic vanilla. This is like drinking straight vanilla extract watered down in some beer. The finish is more roasted malts and nuts but the vanilla stays strong, long. This beer is as close to cream soda as beer can come. AOF (282), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 15, 2007 Part of a six pack porter sampler from Binny’s Naperville. Glad I didn’t buy the six pack. Dark brown color. Completely non existant head. Dont know if i got a bad bottle, but there was almost no carbonation. Small roasted malt and nutty aromas. Minor hints of chocolate and vanilla extract. Light bodied for a porter and just a pretty weak beer all around. I am probably being generous with the 2.3 rating. jobyone (234), Charlotte, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 14, 2007 Pours reddish brown with small off white head. Aroma has light pine smell along with some distinct sweetness. The flavor is quiet sweet with definate vanilla but little else. The taste quickly disapears and the body is quite light. I liked it overall. Very sweet, kinda glad I only bought 1. Wouldn’t of been able to drink another consecutively. But the one I had, I enjoyed. Acknud (772), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA
