Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Pours a dark brown with medium tan head, decent lacing. Flavor strong of vanilla, roasted malt, and not a lot else. Flavor is bordering cloyingly sweet, but not bad otherwise.

I love this beer! Great sweet flavor that I enjoy from time to time. Not an everyday drinker, too sweet for that but at dinner 3 or 4 is nice.

This was one of the first beers I tried when I started getting into craft beer, and I was disappointed in the lack of vanilla. It’s there, but quite subtle.

1. Sampler at the Breckenridge Brewery 2220 Blake Street, Denver 08/10/2008 Small white head. Mid brown coloured and a little fruity with a vanilla flavour. Crisp dry and slightly bitter roast finish. 2. On Tap at the Breckenridge Brewery 2220 Blake Street, Denver 13/10/2008 Slightly sweet aroma. Dark red coloured a little rich and smooth on the palate with some dryness in a crisp vanilla flavoured finish.

From the Ale House in Grand Junction, CO. Better from a keg than the bottle. Finish as sweet as the smell. Nice taste but not something I could drink many of at the same sitting.

Deep ruby pour with a thin head and negligible lacing. Nose is chocolate, mocha and a hint of vanilla. Vanilla makes its presence known at the first taste, then lets the chocolate, mocha and some coffee come through. Silky mouthfeel. Finish is bitter chocolate.

My first ever vanilla porter, and it was a nice experience. The pour is a reddish-black when held to the light, with a tiny cap of light tan head. Smells of roasted malt, a touch of coffee, and some sweetness like molasses. Flavor brings up the vanilla in the body, overwhelming sweetness at first, but the flavors mellow and fall off quickly and leave a smooth aftertaste. The roasted malt bitterness and heavy cream help the situation. Other than the wild initial flavor, this is a very nice flavored porter.

Black with thin, tan head / Nose of tobacco and chocolate / Medium body, a little thin, with weak finish / Creamy mild flavors of roast barley and chocolate, with a shot of vanilla on the finish / Rather bland.
