Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Drank this one a couple weeks ago, but never entered a rating. This was pretty much your run of the mill flavored porter. Vanilla is noticeable in the nose and flavor. Kinda thin mouthfeel. Not a huge vanilla beer fan so this was not my favorite. Next.

Talk about vanilla. This beer poured a dark brown with a tan head. Had an overwhelming taste of vanilla. Could not enjoy, because vanilla was so overpowering. Some hints of coffee, burnt malts. Finished like you would think, VANILLA.

This beer was suprisingly really good. Extremely smooth to drink and had a light vanilla and chocolate notes. KInd of a lactose sweetness hidden in the background of this one. Not that bad overall.

Bottle. Opaque brown-black with a medium and lasting head. Aroma is chocolate sauce with vanilla ice cream. Flavor is vanilla coffee and cocoa powder. Medium-bodied; slightly dry and tingly on the finish.

The label of the Breckenridge Vanilla Porter (bottle) reads, "remarkable" and "partakable." I’d say that’s fair. It might have been a little thin, not quite as much roast as other porters, but that vanilla was so tasty. Of course, the vanilla is a little divisive, but this beer was an unexpected smash hit for me.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. This porter poured a very dark brown color with light mahogany highlights showing through the edges of the glass. A thin, tan head quickly faded away, leaving some light lace. The aroma of the beer included roasted malts and some light vanilla notes. The flavor was full of vanilla, followed by light roasted notes and also some chocolate. The vanilla is very strong, but it doesn’t overpower the other flavors. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with light carbonation. I really enjoyed this beer. About the only complaint I could find was that the body was a little bit thin. Very sessionable!!

clear brown with a small tan head. aroma is weak with light notes of sweet milk chocolate. body is extremely thin for a porter. vanilla is up front with light sweet chocolate. tastes more like a cream soda. highly carbonated. palate is just all wrong.

Bottle. Pourss dark brown with some rich ruby highlights. Fairly muted nose of roasted malt, some artificial vanilla and Hershey’s mike chocolate. Roasted malt with a hint of toffee nuttyness on the palate. There’s a hint of metallic alcohol astringincy that was a tad offputting. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Very average if unforgettable porter.
