| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 9, 2007 Appearance: Pours a clear, dark, dark reddish body with a wispy, off-white head.
Smell: How upsetting. Incredibly weak aroma of sour grains with a tinge of herbaceousness to it.
Taste: Light, sour malt taste with a mild milk chocolate flavor. Only the faintest hint of vanilla crops up midway and lasts into the chocolate water finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Woefully weak and unappealing. JonR888710 (999), Cochabamba, Bolivia

Reaks of synthetic vanilla syrup, or at least my bottle did. Once in my mouth tastes of a watery porter with overly bitter, metallic hops. I did not enjoy this beer at all. gotohelunc (473), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 7, 2007 Bottle. Overpoweringly delicious vanilla nose that hit me like French Vanilla coffee with more sweetness. Average darkness for a porter, nice tanish brown head. I’ll admit, after the first few sips, I hated this beer. The vanilla is so unusual it overpowered everything else, but as I worked through the pint it mellowed out and other flavors appeared. Thick molasses, coffee, caramel, and even some reconizable hops. Quite good. It did leave my mouth overly sticky sweet feeling, but that’s no surprise. Very interesting brew and enjoyable if you give it time and a chance. Salsgebom (20), North Carolina, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Sep 6, 2007 Bah! Vanilla works well in roasted beers, but not this much vanilla. Another example of flavoring adjuncts completely out of balance. The aroma is my least favorite, with mouth-feel being a close last. The only good thing I can say is the base recipe was probably tasty before the vanilla was added. My own fault, faith got the best of me again! pintocb (509), Darsville, Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 4, 2007 Not as opaque as some Porters, but still dark. A small white head. Good carbonation on the pour. Lots of sweet vanilla in the nose. Some roasted notes as well. The flavor delivers what the aroma promised, lots of vanilla and sweet flavors dominate. A little thin on the palate. colts9016 (198), Idaho, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 3, 2007 Deep mahogany color with no head. The smell is folowed by vanilla, malt and molasses. The taste is nutty and malty with a nice thick body that entices a nice hint of vanilla with a smooth finish. A good beer overall xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Sep 2, 2007 12 oz bottle from sampler pack purchased at a little Italian market in Kenosha, WI. Poured opaque black/dark brown (slight ruby tint as well) with medium sized beige head. Vanilla aroma is very strong with some nuttiness and sweet dark malt. Flavor is very sweet with roasted malt, vanilla beans, red fruits, slight coffee, but very much flavored water in taste. While mostly medium bodied and creamy, the palate takes on a more syrupy charecteristic as it warms up. Overall not really up my alley, and almost sickeningly sweet. wingman333 (236), San Antonio, Texas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 2, 2007 Deep black in color, heavy vanilla aromas. A nice twist on the rich porters. Went down cool and milky, with the vanilla taste you would expect from the silky aromas. I enjoyed this very much.
