Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

I’m suprised this isn’t rated higher by most. I’m not a fan of this brewer, but glad I picked this up. Aroma of coffee withjust a hint of chocolate. Pour was perfect...a dark deep brown with a 2 finger off white head that stayed for most of the beer. The taste was NOTHING like the aroma. Very sweet and full. Full on vanilla and malt with a hint of coffee/chocoalate mid gulp. Nice and creamy mouthfeel. Nothing like I’ve had from them before! Good job!

Great looking beer! Deep brown nearly black with medium froathy tan head. Aroma is vanilla and roasted malt...smells like a bakery. The roasted malt is very good (burnt taste) however I feel the vanilla interferes with it... very buttery. Definitely not a drinker but a dessert. Good winter brew...very rich.

Bottle sampled. Pours a deep brown with a light tan head. Aroma of vanilla, molasses, and coffee with a sweet and creamy flavor of vanilla, caramel, and some chocolate notes. A very good porter.

Dark brown body with a small tan head. Vanilla, sweet malty aroma. Smooth vanilla flavor - just a little trace of chocolate malt. Not much distinguishing in the aftertaste.

bottle. color is light cola brown, but when held to light reveals a more ruby shade. a short frothy tan head caps it off. some much vanilla on the nose it’s hard to smell anything else. a soft smooth and velevety ale with a pleasant sweetness and character from the vanilla. some light cocolate shows up but overall this lacks the heavy robustness i look for in porters.

Bottle: Pours a dark black color, decent head and lacing, can’t complain. The nose is roasty, plenty of bright vanilla and wood notes, some coffee and tons of sweet chocolate and cocoa. The flavor is.....oh my god, vanilla extract. Moving on. The finish is your reaction to the horrible intense vanilla flavor and syrupy sweet chocolate and vanilla notes. There’s no time for the palate to adjust, it’s like walking into a dark room then having a flashlight shined in your eyes. You just can’t react. Interesting attempt. An enigmatic surprise? Bullshit, this was a fucking blatant shock wave. I feel generous with this score.

Bottle. Not the darkest porter - deep brown/red with a scant head. Quite low carbonation. The vanilla is apparent in the aroma, coupled with creamy chocolate and toasty malt. Vanilla continues to come through loud and clear in the flavour with bitter, burnt malt and cooking chocolate backwash. Bittersweet mouthfeel - starts sweetish but the burnt bitterness lingers longer. Rather light bodied. Overall, pretty decent but doesn’t have the depth of flavours, or richness to qualify for the upper echelons.
