Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Pours a deep brown, very little head. Very little nose, with nothing really standing out except maybe a bit of sweet vanilla. Very strong vanilla taste, with a chocolate/coffee blend following it up.

Black pour with a moderate sized light tan head, decent lacing and retention. Aroma is vanilla with light chocolate and caramel. Medium to light body with a caramel/vanilla type sweet finish. Another vanilla bomb.

Poured from a bottle. Had a dark reddish color. Had very little smell to it, which was surprising. Taste was of dark chocolate, coffee and light vanilla. Also picked up a molasses taste. Was actually a little more watery than I prefer for porters.

bottle: pours a clear light brown with a small off white head. aroma of vanilla and roasted grains not very strong but pleasant. a very pleasant taste that is not to strong like the aroma it is vanilla upfront and some roasted grains in the back (chocolate and coffee that is very week). the palate is very smooth and a very easy drinking porter. everything is quite light though.

Very light aroma of vanilla and cherry. Pours clear, dark reddish brown, with a medium off white head and decent glass coating. Earthy, mossy flavor, but not strong. Faint vanilla and hop finish. There are some good flavors with this beer, but someone needs to turn up the volume a bit and bring them out more. It’s just a little weak.

Bottle pours an opaque black/brown. The was no head. The aroma is of rich dark malt and there is atouch of sweetness. The flavor starts sour and movers to sweet dark malt finishing with a sweet vanilla flavor and some alcohol kick. Strange, not bitter enough and too sweet for my taste.

12oz bottle, courtesy of hopscotch. Thanks, Eric! Pours a dark, reddish-brown color; light tan head with web-like lacing. Sweet, vanilla and nougat in the aroma. Medium mouthfeel: cheap vanilla character (like oak chips) in a roasted malt and milk chocolate base; pleasant sweetness and vanilla bean creaminess, in an otherwise uneventful porter; slightly oily and viscous. Creamy, vanilla bean and milk chocolate finish.

Pours a nearly black hue with a nice white head that clings to the glass with all its might Coffee milkshake aroma gets my mouth watering in anticipation. While I don’t usually dig vanilla in beer, this example is rather enjoyable. There’s enough chocolatey flavors in this one to balance out any extract like vanilla flavor that I usually associate with vanilla brews. I actually found this one to be quite enjoyable.
