The nose is of roasted malts, toffee and vanilla, but is somewhat muted. The mouthfeel is full-bodied, creamy and soft with a fairly clean finish for a porter. The flavor is roasted malts, vanilla and cocoa with a pleasant roasted finish. Having been pretty disappointed with the Breckenridge offerings that I’ve sampled to this point, this one was a pleasant surprise. If you love vanilla, like I do, give it a try. Taste of vanilla with more vanilla and a hint of malt on the back end. A nice flavored porter. donovan1983 (52), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 7, 2007 Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a light brown head that diminishes somewhat rapidly. Aroma has a very present vanilla scent as well as chocolate and roasted malt. Very unique aroma. Flavour is sweet, with a heavy vanilla flavour as well as sweet chocolate, roasted malt, and some hops. Carbonation is just right and mouthfeel is pleasant, but a little thin. Finish is somewhat astringent with subtle chocolate and nut flavours that disappear quickly. It’s an interesting brew, just that I’m a little underwhelmed by it as I have been by many of the Breckenridge brews I’ve tried so far. Still, it’s a decent brew and I’ll be perfectly happy drinking the rest of the 6-pack. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Tastes and smells very similar. Rich subtle vanilla taste. Fairly easy to drink for quite a dark beer. Decent, I thought, but I haven’t had but a couple other porters. ksigty (107), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 1, 2007 Given the ingredients, I would expect more aroma out of this beer, which is disappointing. Good appearance and the flavor is what makes the beer. Other than wine and mead, I have never tasted such a great presence of vanilla. Not overpowering either, just right. The aftertaste is almost like drinking the milk after eating a sugar cereal. Kind of weird. Overall, the uniqueness of this bear is what makes it worth having. Keep drinking it to avoid the soggy cereal aftertaste. Then have another! stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 12/20 | May 31, 2007 Medicinal lilac aroma. Very heavy but soft mouthfeel. On the sweet side with cola and vanilla flavors but not quite sweet enough to highlight the vanilla. Finshes with lingering chocolate. Overall, a bit like a malted and not much more complex than that. jetzler (622), oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 31, 2007 Pours, quite dark with a ncie dark head, malty aromas, very strong vanilla taste, I felt like I was sucking on vanilla bean most of the time. I would have prefered a little less vanilla taste, and more dark chocolate malts but hey thats my opinion. maybe a bit more structure on the palate too.
