Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Nice dark brown color. Light tan head. Very nice vanilla smell, that continues on in the flavor. Sweet vanilla after taste, with no lingering bitterness. Very good after dinner drink, or just something to sip on to get a very good buzz.

Bottle. Poured a light black color with a nice head, lots of legs. Aroma is overly scented with vanilla, light malt and oats. Flavor is extremely sweet with vanilla dominating the flavor, very dry.

Pours almost black with a half inch tan head. Nose is rich with chocolate and some vanilla. Taste has all the qualities of a porter, roasty, some chocolate. The vanilla comes on the finish. As the beer warms, the vanilla becomes much more predominant. Nice beer that is quite drinkable.

Bottle: Pours a medium depth brown with a large beige head and lots of thick lacing. Nose is like a mocha, but with vanilla tones. Like the name implies, taste is plentiful with vanilla, some roasted malt and mocha flavors. So much on the sweeter side that its a bit one dimensional. Good intentions, just a bit overboard on the vanilla.

Bottle at the Flying Saucer in Fort Worth, TX. First ever Vanilla Porter and I loved it. Vanilla after taste wasn’t too strong, just right. Delightful beer.

Big vanilla nose, brown body with tan headm quickly left. Nose is vanilla, almost a fakeness to it. Taste well... There is vanilla, and choclate, almost like a milk shake. Odd, not nearly as good as I thought it would be. Mystery 2.0 thanks to SHP555!

Pours a deep, dark brown color with a thin tan head. Vanilla is definitely present in the aroma. Also some brown sugar and possibly molasses. Heavy vanilla presence in the flavor, as well as some roasted malt. A good balance, and done very well. One of the better porter’s I have had.

Warm chocolate chip cookie, in a glass. Another day I might pine for more complexity. But right now, yum.
