Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Bottle courtesy of markwise. Pours a dark cola brown with thin white head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of light vanilla, roast, ripe dark fruit, some hints of caramel and coffee. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of vanilla, caramel, ripe fresh fruit, chocolate, hints of brown sugar and honey. Generally medium body with a pleasing malty finish.

Big thanks to adamharbaugh for this one- I have been anxious to try this one. Pours cola brown with a small off-white head. Nose is roast, vanilla, and slight coffee. Flavor is similar with some sticky vanilla sweetness. Nice mellow porter that is complemented and not overtaken by vanilla. Medium bodied and pretty good overall. Very partakable.

Pours a very dark brown color with a decent tan head that never left. THere were sheets of lace left behind from the head making this a very attractive beer. Smells of raosted malt are most noticeable. There are also hints of sweet vanilla and a tad chocolate. The flavor is mostly the same, but not very outstandish. Almost cloyingly sweet from the overload of vanilla. It has a rather thin mouthfeel.

Dark brown-color with a frothy head. Vanilla rich chocolate notes in the aroma. Creamy rich flavor. Has a light oily roasted character. I think the vanilla overtakes the other characteristics of a porter, more roasted, malts and chocolate coffee notes. A nice drinkable beer.

12oz bottle courtesy of trade with beerbill. Deep deep brown color, poured with a big head. Roasted aroma, chocolate, hint of vanilla, molasses. Flavor hits you with a weird tang, almost like a shot of sour soy sauce, then drifts into slight vanilla, chocolate flavor. Unexpected, but not in a good way.

Near black in color with a diminished taupe head. Scents of molasses, black malt and cheap vanilla extract. Caramel and vanilla extract flavors. Hints of coffee, dark malts and roasted nuts. SOme how it feels a bit tinny. I hear this is Ok in beer bread.

There was some inconsistency while drinking this beer. The first bottle I drank had only a subtle taste of vanilla mixed with chocolate and caramel. The second however was overloaded with vanilla; it tasted almost like a vanilla coke. The flavor was too strong and hard to enjoy. It also reminded me of sour milk, and was very sweet on the lips and tongue. I can only see myself enjoying this beer with a dessert like chocolate cake or pudding.

Bottle. Poured dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma was filled with notes of dark chocolate and coffee notes. Maybe some vanilla but didn’t pick up too much. The vanilla however is definitely present in the flavor and while a bit overpower compliments the dark flavors well.
