Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Dark brown body, thin light tan head. Roasted malt aroma with strong vanillin. Strong artificial vanilla flavor which I liken to the creme filling in Cadbury eggs. I love Cadbury eggs, but I’m not exactly blown away by that flavor in a beer. Otherwise chocolatey. Still, a pretty good sipper.

(bottle - 12 oz) Nice black pour with a puffy tan head. Aroma is nice and creamy with a subtle vanilla aroma. Some coffee as well. Flavor is loaded with vanilla. Very sweet and creamy flavor with some roasted chocolate malts and a slightly nutty finish. Really sweet finish and aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours a pitch black body with a small off-white head. The aroma is pleasantly rich with piquant vanilla, some toast, and bittersweet chocolate. Bitterness is abundant from the start in a rich, smooth, and sticky body. Lots of chocolate towards the end with raw vanilla strewn in. Quite nice.

Bleh, a failed attempt from Breckenridge. Light roast and wood in the nose, with only a hint of vanilla gave me a false first impression, as the flavor is dominated by caramel and vanilla, with a touch of chocolate. It becomes very candy-barish after awhile. Empty finish, virtually no hop flavors or bitterness. Nice garnet color with abig tan head and fair lacing.

clear brown with a small tan head. aroma is weak with light notes of sweet milk chocolate. body is extremely thin for a porter. vanilla is up front with light sweet chocolate. tastes more like a cream soda. highly carbonated. palate is just all wrong.

The pour brings a dark brown almost balck liquid with a very faint reddish hue with held to a light. Nice tan head on the beer. Aromas is creamy roasted vanilla beans with a bit of oak. The porter taste starts iwth a light smooth roasted flavor and then gives way to lots of vanilla bean taste. At this point it almost gives the impression that it has been oak aged. The finish has a nice light hop bitterness, but the taste that stays with you is the creamy vanilla flavor. Very nice beer.

Tall off white head over a clear, dark brown body. Roast malt with a hint of vanilla. Lightly sweet with no hop bitterness. Vanilla is weak. A bit thin. Not bad, but it could have been much more.

bottle - Pours very dark brown with a thin head. Roasted malts and vanilla are present in the light aroma and more-so in the flavor. Smooth and medium bodied, it has ample vanilla flavor. While quite good, it could have used a little stronger roast malt backbone.
