Aroma is vanilla and roasted malt...smells like a bakery. The roasted malt is very good (burnt taste) however I feel the vanilla interferes with it... very buttery. Definitely not a drinker but a dessert. Good winter brew...very rich. jasonp (1514), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 28, 2006 Bottle courtesy of artusory. Clear brown with a small beige head. Artificial vanilla aroma. Caramel, a little roastiness, vanilla extract. Moderately sweet, light bitterness. Medium bodied, subtle carbonation. Drinkable, but starts to taste like vanilla Coke after a little while. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Sep 12, 2007 Its been a while since I have had a porter and can hardly wait for this one. Nice dark body with red highlights and a medium dark tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty with a bit of molasses. Flavor is delicious. Sweet malts with lots of roasted notes. The vanilla is subtle but has a pleasant impact. Chocolate flavor is a dry dark variety. Some dark fruit shows up late. This is such a drinkable beer! jkwalking05 (1501), Arlington, Texas, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 6, 2006 Dark brown with a slight umber tone at the edges. Thin capping of light sandy colored smooth foam. Keeps a slim collar throughout and the lacing is minimal in a few spots.
Aroma is dark and rich with a somewhat burnt brown sugar and molasses tang with a dark vanilla sweetness.
Taste is good, perhaps a bit overly sweetened in the front at first, but begins to draw out some as it sits. Flavors are dark and favorably rich and lasting with a doughy, milky center surrounded by its dark vanilla skin. Rounds off nicely into the finish with a milk chcolate tone and a resurrected tang of vanilla and molaases like sweetness with just a very slight note of burnt dryness.
Feel is milky smooth and soft on the palate as it quenches favorably well in a medium statured body. Clean, fresh, and well rounded feel and flavors throughout its stay with just the right amount of bearable sweetness and vanilla. Although this did seem a bit overbearing at first few sips but it tended to mellow off some and was no longer bothersome as it grews on me. The little chocolate push in the finish really helped. Although, as well to mention here, this might not be for everone who thinks of a porter and try this stuff. My take is that its a solid, drinkable little porter thats worth trying out. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 28, 2006 Smells a lot sweeter than it actually tastes, such is vanilla. The aroma is dominated by vanilla with a hint of roasted malt. Good but not great. GreatLibations (1470), Last Supper, Arizona, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 25, 2007 Pours a deep mahogany brown w/ a medium semi creamy froth that recedes to a fine silky canopy and full lace that clings. Aromas of vanilla malts. Medium nectar w/ soft residual effers. Big vanilla rootbeer flavors. Not much roast or any other porter flavors to speak of. Finish is only lightly bittered. It’s a sweet brew. I would put this brew in the fruit beer section. As a porter, not interested.
