Nov 17, 2008 Bottle from Dain’s in Durham. Deep brown pour, off white head. All the normal porter notes-- roasted malts, lactose, chocolate-- but with a shit ton of sweet vanilla. If you want a sweet beer, go for it. Not my thing. Glad my wife ordered it so I could taste it, but would not want more than a sip. Seems to accomplish what it’s going for, though.

Jun 13, 2006 Ugh. the aroma was good. vanilla and oak and some chocolate. the flavor however is like flat soda, with some vanilla extract and some syrup. ick. sticky mouthfeel.

May 19, 2006 Dark cola color. Virtually no head. Nose of Vanilla, of course, and a little malt. Great dark vanilla mouth feel. Creamy and lingering. Solid, but I’ve had much better.

Jan 21, 2008 Bottle at Sadlack’s in Raleigh, NC. Pours dark, black, red around edges with a medium tan head. Aroma is VANILLA with some chocolate, and other roasted smells. Too much vanilla in flavor. Ruins everything in my opinion. Can taste roastiness, chocolate as well.

Jun 26, 2009 Big thanks to adamharbaugh for this one- I have been anxious to try this one. Pours cola brown with a small off-white head. Nose is roast, vanilla, and slight coffee. Flavor is similar with some sticky vanilla sweetness. Nice mellow porter that is complemented and not overtaken by vanilla. Medium bodied and pretty good overall. Very partakable.

Oct 22, 2006 Bottle. Small head on top of dark brown body. Moderate nose has aromas of burnt malts, chocolate, vanilla and plastic, a combination not all that enticing. The sweet vanilla is up front in the flavor, but there is also a moderate bitterness in the finish and an undertone of malts. Midly acidic. Medium body with watery texture.

Apr 7, 2007 (Tap) Pours a dark brown color with tan head. Strong vanilla aroma with a similar aroma. Great malty flavors impart chocolate and hazelnut flavor into the brew. Nice body, with a really great mouthfeel. Pretty well balanced, but after drinking the bottle, it starts getting a little too sweet. This would be an amazing beer if the vanilla was toned down a bit.

Dec 23, 2008 Bottle. Poured black with q frothy off-white head. Aroma of chocolate and a light vanilla undertone. The flavor finds vanilla, chocolate and a slight roast. Full body, soft carbonation, and sweet throughout.
