Apr 7, 2007 (Tap) Pours a dark brown color with tan head. Strong vanilla aroma with a similar aroma. Great malty flavors impart chocolate and hazelnut flavor into the brew. Nice body, with a really great mouthfeel. Pretty well balanced, but after drinking the bottle, it starts getting a little too sweet. This would be an amazing beer if the vanilla was toned down a bit.

Aug 26, 2006 I haven’t had too many beers flavored with vanilla that I have liked, so this will be the exception for sure. The pour was almost black, but not quite all the way. The head was a strong tan color. The aroma is sweet--definite vanilla, roasted malt, and coffee as well. The flavors were the same, and I was glad to find out that there wasn’t any of the medicine type flavors that I normally get from the vanilla flavored beers. The mouthfeel is almost right, but just slightly too thin for a porter. If this was a bit thicker, it would be even more enjoyable.

Mar 27, 2009 Dark brown pour with minimal head. Aroma is vanilla and toasted grain. Flavor is very vanilla. It’s an okay brew, but pretty one dimensional. Funny, I used to really like this stuff.

Oct 16, 2006 Got this one bottled at the Binny’s Oktoberfest in St. Charles, Illinois. Dark brown pour, nose of chocolate and vanilla, taste of tapioca pudding. This one was unusual.

Jan 4, 2006 dark as night, little to no brown head. nose of mostly sweet vanilla. mouth feel is slick and uneasily bodied for your palate. more of sweet vanilla extract flavor with a flushed backing of roasted malt. not horrible but not great either. lacking.

Dec 16, 2007 12 oz. bottle courtesy of Doboy - thanks Ed. Deep clear mahogany and a mediu, receding tan head. No hint of vanilla here - nit’s up front and in your face (and nose). Chocolate and roasted malt notes barely break through. Very creamy mouthfeel, medium/full body, Sweet caramel flavors dominate, gentle bittering at the finish. Just too much vanilla for my tastes.

Jun 10, 2007 Pours a ruby/brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose is of roasted malts, toffee and vanilla, but is somewhat muted. The mouthfeel is full-bodied, creamy and soft with a fairly clean finish for a porter. The flavor is roasted malts, vanilla and cocoa with a pleasant roasted finish. Having been pretty disappointed with the Breckenridge offerings that I’ve sampled to this point, this one was a pleasant surprise. If you love vanilla, like I do, give it a try.

Dec 1, 2008 Dark pour with small tan head. Light nose of vanilla and roast. Flavor is cola sweet with with roast and just a hint of vanilla.
