Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Bottle. Poured dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma was filled with notes of dark chocolate and coffee notes. Maybe some vanilla but didn’t pick up too much. The vanilla however is definitely present in the flavor and while a bit overpower compliments the dark flavors well.

Bottle, pours deep brown/black with a bright white head that dissipates quickly, minor lacing. Aroma of malts, vanilla and molasses. Flavor is strong on the vanilla, with more molasses, and a touch of roasted malts on the finish. Agree with earlier comments about the vanilla being a bit too center stage, and a touch thin. An interesting deviation on a traditional porter but not necessarily for the better.

Brewed in the USA... Courtesy of the Capt, thanks mark !! Pours brown in color with a thin beige head. Aroma of vanilla beans, chocolate and malts. Taste is much of the same, but still pretty drinkable.

Pours very dark, nearly black, with a tan head. The aroma is overpoweringly filled with vanilla. The taste provides some other subtleties - some malts, some chocolate - but mostly more vanilla. Hop presence is virtually nil. The after-taste is sugar and vanilla.

Pours a nice deep ruby with brown highlights, a nice creamy 2 finger tan head. Aroma is chocolate, light roast, vanilla, sweet roasted nuts, and a touch of toffee. Flavor is pretty over the top on vanilla, theres a little roast in there, coffee, some waxy milk chocolate. Finish is awkwardly chalky and sweet with a very vanilla rum like base. Not so good, worse than I remember. Body is medium and oily

Sampled at Lundeen’s Brew Ha-Ha 2009. Pours a clear brown with ruby highlights and has an average white head that sits atop it. Aroma is sweet with notes of molasses, chocolate, toasted malt, a light doughy-ness to it and a strong vanilla nose. Flavor has a very smooth sweetness composed of caramel, chocolate and an overall strong vanilla but is the perfect amount to compliment the sweetness present perfectly. A nice body and a very creamy feeling to it. Overall, generally it is very hard to do vanilla brews without overdoing the vanilla. This brew did a great job of preventing this and in turn, produced a fantastically memorable porter.

Vanilla and chocolate in the nose of this brown pour. The dark brown is topped with some mocha colored foam. Light roasted flavor with just a touch of vanilla.

Bottle, 6 fl. oz. Pours a dark brown/reddish beer with an offwhite head. The aroma is weak vanilla. The flavor is strong vanilla, way too much, and it leaves a sticky vanillataste in the palate. Overall this beer has way too much vanilla.
