Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Poured dark brown with minimal head. Aroma of mild malt, hints of vanilla. I’m not a big fan of porters in general but this caught my eye. It’s "ok". The vanilla is not as upfront as others have noted. Body is thin and somewhat watery. Won’t buy again.

BOTTLE: dark brown pour, looks as thin on the pour as it tastes. Nice vanilla aroma, more vanilla on taste, not much roastiness. A good drinker, but not spectacular.

Pours inky black with small tan head. Nose is woodsy vanilla and malt. Flavor of vanilla, oak, very nutty and creamy, quite mild. Creamy, very good mouthfeel. I like it a lot.

Pours almost black with a half inch tan head. Nose is rich with chocolate and some vanilla. Taste has all the qualities of a porter, roasty, some chocolate. The vanilla comes on the finish. As the beer warms, the vanilla becomes much more predominant. Nice beer that is quite drinkable.

Aroma of chocolate, coffee, maple syrup. A smooth, dark porter that pours a decent head, clean palate, roasted malt qualities. Solid mouth feel with a strong vanilla, chocolate flavor.

Dark pour with minimal head and nice carbonation. Pleasant aroma with hints of vanilla. Nice and smooth on the pallet, malts and some roast but the vanilla is on the lowdown. A little thin for a port so I wouldn’t sat it was very rich. Lightly sweet and smooth finish. So far the Best from the batch of this sampler case.

Very tasty. A smooth porter with light coffee-chocolate presence, and a very nicely done vanilla kick. Very smooth and drinkable, moderatly malty, and lightly bitter in the finish. Vanilla is noticeable but not overdone. I dont tend to be crazy about gimicky ingredients, but this is deffinatly one of the best porters I have ever had.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass, black with a thin tan head. The color is deep amber when held up to a light. Smell is sweet with a strong dose of vanilla, of course, and a hint of coffee. The taste -- remember when you were a kid and when mom was baking she let you smell the vanilla extract bottle and it was great and later you snuck into the cupboard and tried drinking some. Well, actually it’s not quite that bad. There is a strong taste of vanillla up front as one would expect, with hints of coffee and chocolate. Very sweet to start and then it finishes with a just a touch of bitterness. Probably worth a try if you’re a vanilla fan and definitely worth it if you liked the vanilla extract as a kid.
