Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Bottle (12oz). Shared with GregClow, my bottle. Deep ruby with a small tan foamy-rocky head. Smells like vanilla bean in alcohol, some sweet roast malt and a wee bit of perfumy hops. Taste of vanilla, vanilla extract, roast nutty malt (hint of cocoa) some slightly harsh bitterness on the finish. This is pretty syrupy - sort of like fountain soda syrup, a long sweet sticky finish. Way too much cloying vanilla and not much else here.

Sampled on 4/18/2009. This porter pours a deep brown color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is chocolate and coffee with a touch of vanilla. A medium bodied Porter. The malts are chocolate and coffee. The hops are earthy. There is just a touch of vanilla in this beer. It complements the roasty malts and coffee flavors very well. For a chance a beer that uses vanilla in a good way in a beer. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop was bottled on 2/21/???? Whats with the bottles and their omitting the year? It poured a small sized head of finely sized off-white colored bubbles that was and left behind a semi-opaque softly carbonated dark caramel brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The aroma was sweet with very prominent vanilla and caramel malt. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a caramel hop aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of strong vanilla malt. Delicious very nicely done and one I would certainly buy again.

On tap (twice!) at the Denver location, 4/15/06: Tan head of tightly fitted bubles on a dark black beer. A "pow" of vanilla aroma. Cookies is in a glass is my first impression ... but superbly delicious. The wife loved it.

Draught at the brewpub. Almost black - no head. Roasted, vanilla, grainy, dryness, lactose, chocolate, nutty, light hoppy. Thin body. A bit like vanilla-coke.

Bottle. Rich cocoa and vanilla aroma. Red brown, low creamy head. Very chocolatty. Full body, slick mouthfeel. Pure dessert.

Black color with a large head. Sweet aroma of roasts and strong vanilla. Wow. The vanilla is not hidden at all in this one. Almost a drop of vanilla extract in every sip. Sweet malts in the background. The creamy body makes this tastes remarkably like ice cream. Not my favorite, but if in the mood for a sweet porter, this may take the cake.
