Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Bottle, with the words "remarkable" and "partakable" on it: Deep brown with a patchy tan head. Roasty-sweet nose was inviting. Carbonation was a bit too much, but otherwise the texture was really nice -- silky-smooth. Sweet caramel flavor. Rich chocolate and fresh dark bread notes. Vanilla level was darn near perfect -- noticeable but not overbearing. Moderate amount of bitterness, but I’d prefer a pinch more. Overall, I thought this was a pretty tasty (and nicely aromatic) porter.

Dark walnut brown with a thin tan cap. Very rich aromas of vanilla, oak, chocolate, hazelnuts. Palate is loaded with same, with a medium-bodied, creamy mouthfeel. This walks the edge of being a sweet stout. Delicious in every way, well balanced, and surprisingly drinkable for such a flavour-rich brew. I loved it. 6-pack shared with Parksy.

Courtesy of markwise. Pours up brown with copper hues and tan head. The aroma is sweet with molasses and prunes. Nice mixture here to create a pleasing aromatic. The taste is chocolate and vanilla revealing a deasert type experience with some roast and mild prune fruity goodness in the background. Very nice tasting brew.

Bottle Dec 2007, thanks to Josh. Pours a deep warm brown, nice color. Smells nuanced and malty, sensually sweet. Slight alcoholic notes that make the aromas and flavors highly reminiscent of vanilla extract. Yet the malt is there too. Creamy chewy silky mouthfeel. An interesting, appealing treat.

This was just great! the vanilla comes though slightly in the aroma, but really helps balance out the taste, into a slightly oreo cookie like flavor, I sware. The flavor is great, with a nice coffee roastiness throughout. Great dark coloring, with a big hefty head. A must try when you roll through Denver.

Black, thin tan head. Vanilla fudgey aroma, as one might expect. Flavor is like an Oreo cookie in a glass - nice vanilla flavors mix with chocolatey malts. If anything, it verges on being a bit too sweet. Enjoyable, though. Sampled at the Flying Saucer, Raleigh.

Draught: Aroma of vanilla and dark roasted malts. Poured black with hints of ruby and a very rocky, medium-sized, tan head that diminished by lasted. Good lacing. Lightly sparkling. Medium sweet flavor. Tastes of vanilla, cream, roasting, and a hint of piney hops. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Vanilla/cream finish. Almost like a cream soda beer.

Gosh, this was tasty. There is a lot of potential in this flavor combination. The vanilla blends with the roasted flavors to create the flavor sensation of a stout float. In Breckinridge’s take, there is a very bubbly and somewhat frothy palate to heighten the effect. It makes it exceptionally easy drinking, like it’s a cream soda or some other soft drink. Lots of vanilla, to be sure, but I had no qualms about it. My wife really liked it, too.
