Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Bottle. Poured a small tan head that mostly diminished with decent lacing, carbonated, transparent, and a dark red with some brown for the hue. The aroma was malty sweet, caramel, some chocolate notes, and vanilla. Flavor was very nice-sweet, malty, caramel, chocolate and some roastiness. Smooth, thin mouthfeel. Light body. A very smooth, quaffable brew.

Warm chocolate chip cookie, in a glass. Another day I might pine for more complexity. But right now, yum.

Transparent amber-chocolate in color with soda bubbles on the edges and a tan saliva galaxy oval on top. Madagascar vanilla launches out of the nose with sweet brown sugar and caramel crusted sugar grahams. Sweet cocoa wheat is comin’ atcha with a hint of lactic acid. Full flavored, boozy vanilla beans pool in a brown sugared chocolate port sauce. The Madagascar vanilla bean gets good distance as the flavor weaves through. Mocha beans surface under the sweet sugar coating. Medium to fuller bodied with remnants of Hershey bars melting in a lunchbag for both flavor and texture. A hint of café mochas and lactic cream glide with white chocolate mouse filling in the end.

12 oz. bottle. Nice toasty Vanilla notes in the aroma. Initial flavor is sweet vanilla but it’s quickly followed by a dry roasted malt flavor. I like the initial sweet flavor and the dry finish...the vanilla is not overpowering. Just right.

I love my beers creamy and full-flavored and this dark-beauty delivered and then some!! A thick toasted head that really sticks to your upper lip gets you started on this porter, although I thought more chocolately than a vanilla vibe, and with oatmeal cookies resonating on the top of the mouth. Looks great in my hand and even better on a cold fall night.

Pours a nearly black hue with a nice white head that clings to the glass with all its might Coffee milkshake aroma gets my mouth watering in anticipation. While I don’t usually dig vanilla in beer, this example is rather enjoyable. There’s enough chocolatey flavors in this one to balance out any extract like vanilla flavor that I usually associate with vanilla brews. I actually found this one to be quite enjoyable.
