Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

V-A-N-I-L-L-A spells vanilla and so does this porter. Someone droppped off a six of this and we enjoyed this with the family.

Bottle. Overpoweringly delicious vanilla nose that hit me like French Vanilla coffee with more sweetness. Average darkness for a porter, nice tanish brown head. I’ll admit, after the first few sips, I hated this beer. The vanilla is so unusual it overpowered everything else, but as I worked through the pint it mellowed out and other flavors appeared. Thick molasses, coffee, caramel, and even some reconizable hops. Quite good. It did leave my mouth overly sticky sweet feeling, but that’s no surprise. Very interesting brew and enjoyable if you give it time and a chance.

Bottle from Whole Foods. Pours a dark brown with slight light brown head head. Smells of vanilla and slight sweet malt. Tastes like a nice vanilla coffee with a slight hint of chocolate. Very, very slight hop flavor. Has a good toasted malt/coffe flavor with good vanilla aroma. Nice job.

Given the ingredients, I would expect more aroma out of this beer, which is disappointing. Good appearance and the flavor is what makes the beer. Other than wine and mead, I have never tasted such a great presence of vanilla. Not overpowering either, just right. The aftertaste is almost like drinking the milk after eating a sugar cereal. Kind of weird. Overall, the uniqueness of this bear is what makes it worth having. Keep drinking it to avoid the soggy cereal aftertaste. Then have another!

Big thanks to adamharbaugh for this one- I have been anxious to try this one. Pours cola brown with a small off-white head. Nose is roast, vanilla, and slight coffee. Flavor is similar with some sticky vanilla sweetness. Nice mellow porter that is complemented and not overtaken by vanilla. Medium bodied and pretty good overall. Very partakable.

This is a remarkable little porter. Pours a traslucent dark brown coloring, with an ever faithful off white head. Nose of light vanilla extract, with a toasty graham cracker maltiness, light hints of chocolate and marshmallow. Smooth, creamy and very drinkable. I pick this up a lot to have around the house.

Dark pour with minimal head and nice carbonation. Pleasant aroma with hints of vanilla. Nice and smooth on the pallet, malts and some roast but the vanilla is on the lowdown. A little thin for a port so I wouldn’t sat it was very rich. Lightly sweet and smooth finish. So far the Best from the batch of this sampler case.
