Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Bottle. Rich cocoa and vanilla aroma. Red brown, low creamy head. Very chocolatty. Full body, slick mouthfeel. Pure dessert.

The pour brings a dark brown almost balck liquid with a very faint reddish hue with held to a light. Nice tan head on the beer. Aromas is creamy roasted vanilla beans with a bit of oak. The porter taste starts iwth a light smooth roasted flavor and then gives way to lots of vanilla bean taste. At this point it almost gives the impression that it has been oak aged. The finish has a nice light hop bitterness, but the taste that stays with you is the creamy vanilla flavor. Very nice beer.

Pours a clear dark mahogany with a thin-lacing wispy dark tan head. Aroma has some sweet vanilla and milk chocolatey malt Body starts with a sweet caramel malty and sugary vanilla flavor with a mildly bitter finish. Decently balanced and interesting brew.

Pours a darp brown with a good, creamy tan head. The aroma is a good mix of chocolate, vanilla (a bit heavy in the flavor), and nuts. The flavor has a slightly unpleasant plastic-like flavor in the finish.

Bottle. No date on label. Pours a deep dark mahogany with very little beige head. Nose is very coffee like with notes of vanilla, chocolate, and roastiness. Kind of thin in body and with a hidden carbonation that is fairly intense once in the mouth, as well as slightly chalky at times. Flavor is chocolately and roasty with some nuttiness. There are vanilla flavors kind of over the top of everything else. In the finish there is some ashiness along with roastiness and light bitterness. Maybe a hint of cola too. Slightly overdone on the burnt malt flavors and maybe on the vanilla as well even though I do like them. The cigarette ash is a bummer though. Not bad, not quite right, but not bad. I think I’d try it again.

Black color with a large head. Sweet aroma of roasts and strong vanilla. Wow. The vanilla is not hidden at all in this one. Almost a drop of vanilla extract in every sip. Sweet malts in the background. The creamy body makes this tastes remarkably like ice cream. Not my favorite, but if in the mood for a sweet porter, this may take the cake.

A deep dark clear brown porter with a thick unctuous moka head. Aroma of vanilla, chocolate, light c-hops, very pleasing. In mouth, a very nice light porter with vanilla essence, oily mouth feel, light to medium bodied. On tap at Ballpark brewpub 24 Jan. 2009.

Pours a deep, dark brown color with a thin tan head. Vanilla is definitely present in the aroma. Also some brown sugar and possibly molasses. Heavy vanilla presence in the flavor, as well as some roasted malt. A good balance, and done very well. One of the better porter’s I have had.
