Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Had on tap. Pours black with a red tint. Medium body with a roasty chocolate malt flavor. HUGE vanilla finish.

12 oz. bottle, solid beer. Pours a clear brown color with a half finger thick off white head. Light lacing. Light roasted malt aroma. The vanilla comes through nicely in the flavor. A smooth, light to medium body beer. Nice beer.

Bottle. Dark brown with dark red edges and a thick foamy tan head. Aroma is pretty weak. Was expecting much more roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malt and some vanilla. Also a decent roastedness, just not as much as I would like. Overall, very drinkable and easy going.

This is an old school favorite of my wife. I’ve always thought it drank pretty good too. This pours a deep reddish brown with a small tan head, looks a lot like the one in that picture over there. Aroma is nice with a big roasty coffee character, and light notes of vanilla and chocolate. Vanilla basically dominates the flavor of this beer, and it’s a little sticky sweet with the vanilla. However a bitter deep coffee like roastiness along with a small but effective hop presence seems to balance this out to make it particularly more quaffable. There is also a good chocolate flavor too the beer as well but the coffee/vanilla thing eclipses too many subtleties. Palate is mildly watery.

Someone told me I should try this, so I am. Bottle from Westpark Wine and Beer in Richmond. Pours dark brown to black iwht a medium head, good lacing and low retention. Aroma of leather, tobacco and caramel. Vanilla is barely noticeable at first in the taste, but grows on you. Also, a taste of caramel and tobacco. Medium body. Astringent. 6/4/6/3/12/3.1

Rerate 7/13/08. Bottle from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Dark brown pour with excellent head retention and lacing. Roasted malt aroma with hints of vanilla. Taste is roasted malt, vanilla and a tart fruitiness. Full bodied. Must have gotten a less than stellar bottle before, because this really hits the spot. 6/4/8/4/14/3.6

Very good beer. The vanilla aroma makes you want to dive in, but the taste comes up a little bit short. Tastes mostly of coffee with a hint of vanilla. Very nice brew overall, wold drink again.

12oz bottle at home on January 2, 2009. When I first poured this I thought there was no head. Funny, I thought I remembered head. Well, the head seemed to miraculously form after I poured. Must say something about itself. Not impressive at first, but it really grows on you. Its color is a thick, deep dark brown with a brown glow. Thin, bubbly lacing and an aroma that reminds me of something baking in the kitchen. Flavor also reminds me of baked goods. Vanilla not overpowering, but the addition of the standard roasted, nutty, and cocoa flavors make this a neat, and different beer. A little sweet at times, but definitely not overdone. Well-balanced. Thin, but with a bold finish.
