Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Pours a darker brown color with a thin tan head. Aroma is of chocolate, molasses, caramel, dark fruit, roasted malts, and vanilla. Flavor starts off the same with chocolate, roasted malts, and dark fruit. Finishes with vanilla and something strange I can’t quite put my finger on. Started off well but a little dissapointed in the finish on this brew.

Tastes like vanilla extract. Pours the color of a stout and has somewhat of the same taste. The vanilla hints add a nice addition to the flavor but is somewhat lacking. good but not great.

Bottle...The aroma was very inviting, however the vanilla was as advertised...strong. It almost tasted artificial. Very light and smooth. I would have like the vanilla to be more subtle. a de cent beer though

Bottle. Dark color with quickly disappearing tan head. Aroma is vanilla sweetness with hints of chocolate and malt. Taste is of sweet malt followed by vanilla finish. This is a very unique porter and a welcome winter distraction.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass, black with a thin tan head. The color is deep amber when held up to a light. Smell is sweet with a strong dose of vanilla, of course, and a hint of coffee. The taste -- remember when you were a kid and when mom was baking she let you smell the vanilla extract bottle and it was great and later you snuck into the cupboard and tried drinking some. Well, actually it’s not quite that bad. There is a strong taste of vanillla up front as one would expect, with hints of coffee and chocolate. Very sweet to start and then it finishes with a just a touch of bitterness. Probably worth a try if you’re a vanilla fan and definitely worth it if you liked the vanilla extract as a kid.
