Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

Lots and lots of vanilla. Unfortunately, not much else. It was good at first, but the more I drank the less I liked it. Needs some more dimension.

Bottle. A deep ruby red makes this beer look almost black. A thin tan head tops it off. Aroma is delicious - a milky, vanilla, toffee, frappucinno combo that would be just right if it just had more presence. Flavor is decent - Im not getting the vanilla here more of just a roasted coffee malt bitterness that coats the tongue. Thats about it and doesnt leave much of an impression.

Pours deep brownish black, no discernable head. Nose is vanilla, chocolate, tiny hints of lactic sourness. Flavor is lightly bitter, with mild bitterness and light astringency lingering in the finish. Palate is very full. Very nice consistency and balance.

Bottle. Dark color with quickly disappearing tan head. Aroma is vanilla sweetness with hints of chocolate and malt. Taste is of sweet malt followed by vanilla finish. This is a very unique porter and a welcome winter distraction.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours an inky black with a thin tan head. Light aroma, of burnt malt and vanilla beans. Big taste, lots of vanilla extract, burnt malt, and hints of coffee and chocolate. Lingering sweet and spicy vanilla flavors. Decent.

Poured from bottle. Thin head that disappeared quickly. Nice subtly vanilla aroma. Roasted coffee on initial sip, with vanilla aftertaste. If your a vanilla fan, you’ll like this. Averaga porter, but vanilla gives it a drinkable twist.

Pours a thin dark brown, with a quickly dying tan head. Has a nice vanilla/malt aroma. Smells and tastes kind of like a vanilla coke. Pretty thin, but smooth mouthfeel. A slightly pungent flavor detracts from the overall experience. Pretty decent brew though.

Bottle. Poured a black color with a two finger tan head. Aroma is roasted malt and vanilla. Very sweet vanilla to the taste. I didn’t like this initially, but it grew on me after a while. Decent beer.
