Commercial Description:
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.

BOTTLE: dark brown pour, looks as thin on the pour as it tastes. Nice vanilla aroma, more vanilla on taste, not much roastiness. A good drinker, but not spectacular.

Bottle poured into 4oz sample glass. deep dark brown, with no head. Aroma was roasted malt, nuts and coffee. Flavor was Strong nut and malt with a full vanilla taste followed with a milky/creamy finish. A good thick beer. I would buy this beer.

Vanilla is rather evident here, perhaps some chocolate, though not much else. Very smooth, a little sweet.

This was one of the first beers I tried when I started getting into craft beer, and I was disappointed in the lack of vanilla. It’s there, but quite subtle.

Sample at the Hopsnobbery Collective Porter tasting at Dogbricks on 12/4/08. Opaque medium brown color with a minimal head. Malty aroma with plenty of vanilla. I would have thought too much vanilla would be better than too little, but rethinking that now. Also, this is more of a brown ale than a porter. Kinda tastes like Vanilla Coke mixed with Newcastle.
