gabbama (104), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 1, 2008 Aroma is not very strong but is dominated by vanilla with a good chocolate malt background. Vanilla is the first flavor with the chocolate and toffee malt coming through slightly later. Finish is all vanilla with a nice aftertaste.
ThatBrendan (3), Phoenix, Arizona, USA does not count Sep 7, 2008 The suprising thing here is the aroma which isn’t artificial in nature but is smokey and pleasant with a hint of vanilla. The kiss of vanilla is pleasant but not awe-inspiring much like the beer itself. 1010 (23), Marysville, Ohio, USA Sep 6, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown, but not completely opague with a small head. You can definitely smell the vanilla along with some chocolate. Has a very drinkable taste. ajm (331), USA Sep 4, 2008 This was much better than the last time I had it. Bottle from Cortez, CO. Buttery mouthfeel and slight flavor of same. I have been drinking Polish Baltic Porters of late so the absence of copper in the palate is very welcome with this guy. Milk chocolate and vanilla round out - this would be boss if it had any coffee to it. Room temperature a must. Note to nbutler11: no, I didn’t inflate this rating just to put Breck’s average score well over 3.0. nqualls (205), Tennessee, USA Aug 28, 2008 Bottle. Poured a black color with a two finger tan head. Aroma is roasted malt and vanilla. Very sweet vanilla to the taste. I didn’t like this initially, but it grew on me after a while. Decent beer. Grizzle (4), Lawrence, Kansas, USA does not count Aug 27, 2008 Bottle -> Imperial pint glass. Great aroma: sweet and malty. Pours a deep, rich mahogany, with a 1/2 to 3/4 inch khaki head, which disappears perhaps quicker than a porter head should. Zero lacing to speak of. The vanilla is successfully infused with the chocolate, caramel, nut, and malt notes, producing a roasted sweetness. The body is a thin-medium, with an oily slickness as it rolls off the tongue and down the hatch.
