wheresthepath (274), Buckinghamshire, England Jul 21, 2008 Updated: Jul 25, 2008 [Handpump at the Old Ford Inn Pub, Llanhamlach, Powys] Drank this after taking our Dad on his first mountain hike in the Brecon Beacons - so it was always going to go down well! Poured a deep brown with such a thick creamy head that I wondered if nitrogen was being added into what was otherwise clearly a traditional handpump. Quite sweet, with malt, caramel, baked apple and a hint of orange. A little bitterness in the aftertaste. Possibly a little weak-tasting for its strength but we all agreed this was a throughly enoyable and satisfying beer!
TheGrandMaster (1526), Auckland, New Zealand Oct 8, 2008 Bottle (in NZ), pours through a sediment-caked neck again, a dark copper with a foamy off white head. Lots of sweet caramal malt with stewed fruits. A bitter, effervescent palate. The malt in a little earthy, and doesn’t carry through a lot of flavour. Tastes a bit flat, I guess from the trip over. maeib (4106), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Sep 30, 2008 Bottled. An amber coloured beer with a ruby hue and no head. The aroma is fruity with plenty of berries. The taste is more of the same. Hints of sourness and late bitterness amongst the predominant maltiness. Beth101 (155), West Yorkshire, England Aug 6, 2008 Had this in the old nags head Monmouth .Dark brown colour. Thin head. sweet malty aroma. Smooth malty taste. Gethinbeer (684), Nova Scotia, Canada Aug 6, 2008 On tap in the Nags Head Inn, Monmouth. Aroma of berries, and summer fruit. Amber in colour with a thin head which is quick to dissipate. All around a pretty rich fruity ale with caramel texture. Tasty brew.
