Quite bland, a bit grainy, but not much chestnut flavour here. Rather watery.
Needs a bit more of everything, including the chestnuts.

Dec 9, 2007 Cask (gravity dispense), Pigs Ear Beer Festival, December 2006. Dark brown colour - not quite opaque - with a loose tan head. Fair amount of dark chocolate and roasty malt in the aroma. Same elements but less impact on the palate. Dry mouthfeel. Rather light bodied, as the relatively low alcohol content would suggest. A pleasant, easy drinking stout but would benefit from a bit of a boost in body and power. Didn’t get the chestnuts.

Mar 16, 2007 Cask@Pigs Ear BF 06. Quite light as far as stouts go. Lightly roasty and smokey characters, with a fairly light body and short flavour. Pretty ordinary.

Dec 31, 2006 Pigs Ear. A gentle stout which barely lifts above a mild. Roasted barley notes. Pleasant enough, but struggling to impress, and possibly lacking in impact.

Dec 18, 2006 Cask gravity at Pig’s Ear BF. Very dark ruby colour with lasting tan head. Nice enough aroma. Not really chestnutty nor stouty. Some ash/charcoal on end. Some syrupy malt.

Dec 12, 2006 Cask conditoned - gravity dispense - Pigs Ear BF. A black coloured stout with a bubbly white head. THe aroma is roasty and dry and a little fruity. THe taste is fairly thin. Light roast and smoky and fishy. Just decent.
