I was certainly luck to get this one as part of a care pacakge from my family back home. This is a great Bock. It’s got a vinuous quality to it... cherries and prunes are also prevalent giving it a dark and full flavour... oh THERE’s the chocolate. There’s a mustiness to it I suppose, but really doesn’t take much away from the drink... a bit of fine tuning and it’d be prefect.

Hazy brown ale with a wonderful caramel aroma, with grapes, vinous quality. Rather nice malty and vinous taste but which ends fairly quickly in mouth. Very discreet hops. Very nice balance of blended flavours. A big thank you for Presario for this rarity! Enjoyed with MT and Rasta.

Sadly I am likely the last person in the world to be drinking this beer here as I rate (key bagpipes) :( Thin head, deep russet-brown color. The nose is complex with vanilla, dark cherries, chocolate and prunes. The intial sip lets me know that this beer has been aged past its prime with just a touch of vinegar, but the body shows great depth, if not a bit thin, of chocolate, toffee and dark cherries. The finish has a luscious lingering chocolate overtone that SCREAMS, WHY DIDN’T YOU DRINK ME IN MY PRIME. Like a supermodel who hits her 30’s, she is still great, if not just a little past her prime.

Sensuous toffee and berries mingle with black grape sweetness and fat chocolate...Mouthfeel is less luxurious than its fragrance, earthy malt dominates with fun caramel remnants...Obviously, this was once a stellar offering, now quietly relaxing to a young hermit’s retirement...Thanks to Presario for sending out his discovery and to Lubiere for sharing!!...

(2-4 yrs old bottle from Lubiere who got it from presario’s stash). Very deep dark brown with burgundy hints, initially nice head that recedes to a film. Intense aroma, very surprising, I’ve had doppelbocks that didn’t smell as malty as this. Clover earthiness matches caramel malt and thick molasses, peat and chocolate. The palate presents a very mild acidity which may come from the age I assume, but you’d never have suspected it from the sniffing. Very caramelic, herbal mid-mouth and leading toward a mineralic finish, a bit watery actually. Medium body, a bit sticky after a few sips, light carbonation. This still has kept well overall!

Thanks to Presario for picking up this deserted bock on the back of a shelf. Retired brand that has aged quite nicely. Lovely aroma of hops, chocolate, roasted malts. Pours a dark amber brown, thin head. Oily palate, but still quite smooth. Light on the malt. Hoppy, some sweetness, slight astringence in the finish that may be a result of the prolonged aging.

Found 7 1L bottles in a corner liquor store. I called the brewpub to see if they were bottling again since I had never heard of this one. Turns out it may qualify as an antique as it is 2 - 4 years old. Unless it comes back into production it won't get many ratings. Dark brown with some light coming through. Light caramel head to start and then a light skiff. Aroma of spruce, perfume and vanilla. Interesting flavour that is sweet, tart and acetic at the same time. Hard to say if this is the original design or overaging. Pleasant experience, no problem drinking a 1L serving.
